PUPPIES are susceptible to Parvo, a very serious viral disease. Have your puppy vaccinated to keep him healthy and don't expose him to unnecessary germs until he has had all 3 of his first year boosters.
CATS can become pregnant at 6 months of age. MAMA CATS can become pregnant while they are still nursing their babies.
Who We Are
The Lamar County Humane Association is a group of volunteers that help the animals of Lamar County by holding adoptathons, helping our City Animal Shelter, educating the public on animal issues and much more.

Adopting a friend
Our adoption fee for Shelter pets is $55.00 for dogs and $35 for cats. This includes spay/neuter and rabies shot (if 6 months or older), If they are younger than 6 months, you will receive a spay/neuter voucher to be used when the pet is old enough for the procedure.
Our adoption fee for Petco pets is usually $55 to $75 for dogs and $45 for cats. This includes spay/neuter and rabies shot, plus immunizations and de-fleaing. Heartworm testing is also included for adult dogs.

LCHA Office- The Lamar County Humane Association has a meeting room at 310 Clement Road. Due to being an all volunteer organization, the LCHA does not have an office with regularly scheduled hours.The LCHA does not have its own facility to house animals, but uses foster homes for adoptable shelter animals whose lives need saving.
Paris Animal Shelter - The rest of the building on 310 Clement Road houses the City Animal Shelter owned by the City of Paris.
Directions - We are located next to the Fairgrounds. Clement Road is off N. Main Street (on one end) and Loop 286 (next to the City Pool, on the other).
City Shelter Hours - Mon & Sat 10 to 2pm and Tues-Friday 10 to 5>pm. The shelter is closed on Sundays and Holidays.
SPAY/NEUTER ASSISTANCE VOUCHER PROGRAM
If you or someone you know needs financial assistance in spaying or neutering a pet, applications are available at the Paris Animal Shelter or you can call LCHA at (903) 784-6774 and leave a message with your mailing address.
Vouchers are distributed at the discretion of LCHA and are redeemable at many area vets.
This program is currently available to those meeting low income guidlelines and/or receiving government assistance. LCHA does not have an actual spay/neuter clinic.
