Who We Are

Welcome to the City's Nancy P. Watkins Animal Care & Adoption Center! Our hours have expanded to 1:00 PM to 6 PM on Monday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Tuesday thru Friday and Saturdays 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are closed on Sunday and all City Holidays. The Nancy P. Watkins Animal Care & Adoption Center is dedicated to the well being of all adoptable companion animals. Come visit with our shelter animals soon and maybe take home a new friend!

Adopting a Friend

All animals found at large (stray) without owner identification are held for 72 hours as required by City ordinance before being available for adoption. Any animal that is surrendered by an owner is available for immediate adoption. The fee for any adoptable animal is $40.00. Arrangements are currently being made to include vaccinations. Heartworm testing and worming are however included in that fee. Rabies vaccinations are not included in the fee and must be performed by a vet and proof returned to the shelter within 3 days. The adopter must sign a contract stating that the animal being adopted will be altered within 30 days of the adoption date. If the animal is under four months of age, you will have until the animal turns four months of age before being altered. All sterilization contracts will be followed up on and enforced. Any animal not sterlized may be seized by Haltom City Animal Services.

Volunteering and Donations

Our shelter invites committed volunteers to help walk, groom, and spoil our animals with affection. We also have several programs in place that require a labor of love from volunteers. Those who have some time to give to help place out homeless friends with good familys. Our volunteer organization is called Paw Pals of Haltom City, Texas and they are a certified rescue group dedicated to placing the animals in our shelter in good homes. Paw Pals goes off-site to local Petsmarts and this involves a great deal of time and effort. If you are interested in knowing more about this group, please contact Elaine at 817-235-3073 and find out how you can help make dreams come true for the homeless animals in Haltom City. Our shelter also accepts and welcomes donations of food, bleach, towels, blankets, toys, laundry soap, etc. We appreciate your thoughtfulness on the animals behalf!
