At Haltom City Animal Services our goal is to return pets to their owners when possible. When it is not, we devote our time to getting them adopted.   We evaluate all the qualities each pet has to offer and we seek the qualities new adopters might have for the pets.

One of our most prized pets,  Allie an Australian Cattle Dog or Red Heeler, came to us with only a rabies tags on.   We did all we could for two weeks trying to find her owner with no luck.   Allie had qualities that helped her pass a GIFTED ANIMAL PLACEMENT test and later was qualified by CANINE CONNECTION who tests dogs for search and rescue with FEMA.   After 2 years working as a service dog in our facility helping to rehabilitate dogs with fear or aggression issued, Allie now resides in her permanant home on a cattle ranch working and spending time with her wonderful family. We still see her time to time when she visits. Photobucket

Adopting a Friend

All animals found at large (stray) without owner identification are held for 72 hours as required by City ordinance before being available for adoption.  Any animal that is surrendered by an owner is available for immediate adoption once it has passed evaluation.  The fee for any adoptable animal is dependant on what vaccinations and medical services it has received while in our care.  Heartworm testing and first vaccination are included in the adoption.  The adopter is contractually obligated to have their new animal spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption. This is a city ordinance and state law, and is strictly enforced by Haltom City Animal Services.

Volunteering and Donations

Our shelter invites committed volunteers to help walk, groom, and spoil our animals with affection. We also have several special events that require the loving hands of generous volunteers.  Please contact the shelter if you are interested in helping the homeless animals of Haltom City.  Our shelter also accepts and welcomes donations of food, bleach, towels, blankets, toys, laundry soap, etc.  We appreciate your thoughtfulness on the animals behalf!
