February 19, 2010 - "Friends of LCAS" and Shelter dog Preston, are on YouTube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeTN3r0RWic
February 2, 2010 - MANY THANKS to the folks who donated the canned Kibbles 'n' Bits, and Pedigree, dog and puppy food. We promise it will be appreciated by the hungry doggies here! ..... Special bonus - horribly bony dog Shep (renamed Donovan) is now in foster care, and his foster mom has promised to feed him canned food 3 times a day, to help get some meat on those bones!
January 28, 2010 - PLEASE HELP! We have an urgent need for CANNED DOG and PUPPY FOOD! We are OUT - the only canned we have is cat food (also donated) - and we have puppies and some bony dogs (especially poor bony "Shep"), that need the extra hydration, calories, and protein. You can drop it by the Shelter anytime we are open. You can also request a donation receipt at the front desk. THANKS IN ADVANCE! THE PUPPIES and DOGGIES WILL LOVE YOU FOR IT! XOXOXO :-[)
January 7, 2010 - PLEASE HELP! We have an urgent need for DRY PUPPY FOOD! We are OUT - we only have some adult food - and we have a batch of Border Collie puppies and some bony dogs, that need some extra calories, fat and protein. You can drop it by the Shelter anytime we are open. You can also request a donation receipt at the front desk. THANKS IN ADVANCE! :-[)
December 5, 2009 - 7 of the Shep-Spaniel pups have been adopted, and just two are left! Thanks for your help feeding them!
November 30, 2009 - PLEASE HELP! We have an urgent need for CANNED PUPPY FOOD for a batch of 9 (Shep-Spaniel mix) puppies and two mamas. We recently lost one of the pups (there were ten) and maybe that one didn't eat enough of the dry food, and the mamas are likely dried up or have little milk anymore. 6 tall cans twice a day means a lot of canned food! They need this for another couple of weeks, esp as it will be getting colder. Thanks for helping our babies!
September 3, 2009 - Cosmo is now showing at Boomerang Books! He is a SUPER COOL cat >^..^< He has made friends with Chatty Cathy already, and is ready to meet you next!

The store is open 6 days a week - 10 am to 6 pm, every day but Sunday! Dreamsicle and Pamela are living an uncaged life, and are enjoying the pleasant company and the peaceful surroundings (as well as the toys, scratch post and window views)! :-) Come and see! Meanwhile, they are waiting for your help, to find a forever home!
May 2007 - The City Council of League City has approved funding for a MUCH-NEEDED and LONG-AWAITED Shelter expansion! Or, just contact them to thank the Council and Mayor for their support of our City's Animal Shelter!

Our hours are Tuesday - Thursday 10 am - 6 pm, and Friday - Saturday 10 am - 5 pm. We are CLOSED Sunday and Monday.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
League City Animal Shelter is always in need of volunteers. If you are 18 or over, and have just a few hours to donate, it will make the difference for a homeless animal.
If you would like to be involved in the Volunteer Program, please come by the shelter. Help is needed in areas such as:
Adoption Counselor,
Clerical Assistance,
Animal Companion (dog walking and cat petting),
Grooming,
Fostering,
and Much More!
LOST PET?
We are the Impound facility (Shelter) for the Animal Control services of the city of League City, Texas.
Please keep your animal leashed or secured. If your pet is lost in League City, please come IMMEDIATELY to our Shelter and physically view the animals. NOT all animals are pictured here. We only post them here for adoption AFTER the "hold" time (time awaiting an owner) has passed. Remember, ONLY YOU can identify YOUR PET. ID Tags help, and a City License is required by City Ordinance (for dogs and cats)!
You can get a City License here at the Shelter, at City Hall water billing, or most League City Veterinarians. You must show proof of current rabies vaccination (the Rabies Certificate from the Vet). The fee is $4 annually. However - If you show documentation that your pet is neutered/spayed, the License is FREE!
Spay-Neuter Information
Please help keep the homeless pet population down, and reduce behavior problems in your pets. Have all your pets spayed and neutered. Please COME BY the Shelter if you want information on DISCOUNT SPAY-NEUTER locations. Three of the locations are: Long Drive Dog & Cat Hospital, www.longdogcat.com; Animal Alliance Clinic, www.animalalliancetx.org (click on Fees and Forms); and Houston Humane Society, www.houstonhumane.org (click on Clinic).
Adopting a friend
Our shelter has an Adoption Application, and a standard adoption fee of $75, cash or check - this City Shelter has not been set up to accept debit or credit cards for adoptions. This fee INCLUDES a one-year rabies vaccination, spay/neuter surgery, and also includes the (24 Pet Watch) microchip and lifetime registration. SUCH A DEAL! All dogs and cats old enough for surgery must remain at the Shelter until sterilized. If you want to adopt a particular pet, we can schedule this within just a few days....usually a week or less! All pets TOO YOUNG for surgery, will be just microchipped, and adopted out under an adoption CONTRACT. You still pay the $75 fee, because you pre-pay us for the neuter surgery and rabies shot. You may bring them back to be neutered and vacc'd for rabies, within 30 days of adoption, or by the date set in your contract. You may also take them elsewhere for this, at your own expense. Proof of this being done MUST be supplied to the shelter by the date set in your contract. This is REQUIRED by STATE LAW, so the City authorities enforce this with citations if you do not comply.
PLEASE NOTE: Our Shelter DOES NOT SHIP ANIMALS. You must COME IN PERSON to sign for, adopt, and take home your new pet.
Wish List
You can help the Shelter animals by providing extras that are not provided by City tax dollars. When our animals LOOK and FEEL BETTER, they have an easier time making a good "first impression", and are more likely to get adopted! These needed extras include: 1) Light- or Bright-colored BUCKLE-type dog collars (NOT clickable plastic-latch-type - some of these pull apart too easily, and the dog is then loose again!) 2) Light- or Bright-colored cat collars 3) Regular CAT LITTER for Shelter kitties, Scooping cat litter for kitties in foster care with volunteers 4) "Advantage" (any size, dog or cat) for treatment of fleas: ugh - who wants to adopt a cat or dog that has fleas? This stuff works! 5) Washable (plastic or rubber) dog and cat toys. Over 3-inch-diameter dog toys can be given to the doggies IN THEIR KENNELS, for hours of fun. Smaller toys can only be given to the dogs when outside, or they could clog the drains 6) Kitten and Puppy Milk Replacer - such as Just Born, KMR and Esbilac , for orphan kittens and puppies that need to be bottle-fed. This gets expensive, and it is a burden for some foster parents to cover the cost of this formula. 7) Canned cat and dog food, canned puppy and kitten food - the Shelter does NOT buy any canned food for the animals, so the only supply we have is donated. Many animals are stressed in a Shelter environment, and need canned food to stimulate their appetite. Some puppies and kittens are very young and barely of weaned age, so they, of course, need canned food on a daily basis. THANK YOU ON BEHALF OF THE HOMELESS SHELTER ANIMALS!
