We work closely with Animal Companions of Pipe Creek near San Antonio (you may see some dogs listed under both the Animal Companions website and Cocker Rescue), as well as Cocker Spaniel Rescue of East Texas-Houston and Cocker Spaniel Rescue of Dallas/Ft. Worth.
FOSTER HOMES NEEDED We need foster homes that are able to assist us with rescuing cockers from area shelters. We continuously have cockers in shelters that must be placed in homes or they will be killed. Please call and help today! If you cannot foster, please consider donating whatever you can so we can rescue these dogs and place them in boarding until we can find permanent homes for them.

Who We Are

Cocker Spaniel Rescue of Austin/San Antonio is a non-profit organization. We are a small group of local volunteers who work to place abandoned and rescued cocker spaniels in new homes. The dogs are vaccinated, neutered or spayed, heartworm cleared, and assessed for temperament. Often, they require medical treatment before being placed for adoption. If there is a place in your heart and home for one of these deserving cockers, please call our hotline at 512-527-9923. Our adoption fee is only $200.00 for an adult and puppies are $300. Senior and special needs dogs have an adoption fee of $100. We have rescued many Cocker Spaniels in this area and there are more Cockers in local shelters that need our help. We do not have room for all of them...Please help us save these beautiful dogs.

Adopting a friend

To adopt one of our dogs, there will be an application for the potential adopter to fill out. That application is then evaluated by the members of our group. If necessary, we will call and check vet references and do home checks before making a decision on an application. Normally, this process will take more than one day. We do not adopt animals that will be "gifts."
In order to be considered, as an adopter one must: Be an adult with responsibility for maintaining a household (no students). Have a fenced yard. ** Those living in apartments MUST have permission from landlord. Have current identification showing address and/or phone number. Have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in household. Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide for the training, medical treatment and proper care for the pet. Have the resources to make a non-refundable donation**. Agree to provide the pet with an indoor home with fenced yard and be willing to consider it a member of the family. Understand that all Cocker Spaniel Rescue pets are neutered/spayed. Place personal ID on the animal as soon as possible. Provide an environment for the animal that will keep it safe and secure. Cockers are not placed in homes with children under 7 years of age.
**DONATIONS: On average, our group spends an average of $330.00 on each animal in our care. That includes medical, boarding and food. Your generous donations allow us to continue our rescue and adoption efforts.
Understand that Cocker Spaniel Rescue has the right to either deny or approve your adoption application without explanation. PUPPY POLICY: We do not adopt infant puppies (less than 4 months) to homes with children less than 7 years old, apartment dwellers or to homes where no one is home during the day. All puppies must be neutered and Cocker Rescue reserves the right to take the animal back if proper documentation is not made available to the organization at the specified time
