The Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter receives over 6000 animals each year. Hundreds of stray and owned animals a month are surrendered by citizens or strays that are picked up by animal control. Sadly, only about 500 animals are adopted each year and only about 300 are reclaimed by their owners. 95 % of animals surrendered without an ID tag or microchip are never returned to their owners, but 95% of animals that come in wearing an ID tag or microchip are returned to their owners. Many purebred dogs and cats enter the shelter each month. All animals are not listed on the pet list.
EVERYDAY THERE ARE NEW CATS AND DOGS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION.
