Founded in 1995 by Lew Christy and Connie Haun (father & daughter )and incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1998, Whiskers Rescue & Adoption, Inc. has found responsible homes for hundreds of cats (somewhere around 600).The cats have total freedom, no cages to be confined in, and they are one big happy family! Newcomers are quarantined until they are tested for FeLV and FIV and then are socialized under supervision with the other cats. Whiskers is a NO-KILL shelter and the cats have a lifetime home until they are adopted. WE ARE NOT TAKING IN CATS OR KITTENS AT THIS TIME.

We are trying to get the message across that cats are not solitary by nature, contrary to what most people think. A cat left alone tends to act out by destroying things or behaving aggressively.People begin to think that their pets behavior problems are incorrigible and abandon these cats at their local shelter, when in fact all they needed was a friend.
Adopting a friend
Our painless adoption procedure is quite simple: Fill out an application and upon approval you will have a wonderful companion to take home. Just e-mail us for a copy of the application and contract. We don't mind! Our adoption fee is ONLY $50. All cats have been spayed/neutered, wormed, tested and vaccinated. .
We have other cats that may be suitable for Approved Barn Living.
