Another day at ARFhouse! Not only does ARFhouse see that their dogs are healthy, and well-cared for, but it's also important to ARFhouse that the animal be happy. To that end, you notice that the animals aren't in small cages or confined to small areas. Even the aggressive animals have large 30 by 60 yards. And there's always something to keep the interest of the ARFhouse canines, whether it be "helping" ARFhouse volunteers do chores, chasing wildlife, swimming in the ponds, or socializing with the other dogs.

Marvin and Blondie check out the new fencing materials. ARFhouse rescued Marvin when a call came in from a concerned citizen about a dog being shot with a BB gun. Marvin was extremely thin and scared when ARFhouse rescued him. But now he's a healthy happy dog, with hopefully only distant memories of how he came to ARF.

Dodge is one of the 3-legged dogs here at ARFhouse, but he moves just as well as his four-legged friends. In fact, it was hard to get a good picture of him because he won't sit still. It's always disheartening to see perfectly good dogs "dumped" at ARFhouse or a shelter because of a physical disability. Most dogs that are blind, deaf, or missing limbs have learned to compensate so well with their other senses that they can lead full, happy lives despite their disability.

Who ARFhouse Is:

ARFhouse is now the third largest care-for-live, no-kill canine sanctuary in the U.S.
We have over 340+ dogs on site. ARFhouse provides refuge and care for unwanted, abused, and/or physically challenged canines without regard to size, breed, temperament, age or physical disabilities. Some of the dogs are free to roam the 25 acre property and swim in one of the three ponds. The un-socialized dogs have large 30' by 60' yards with their own dog houses, and if possible, an animal companion with which they can get along.

In addition to providing lifetime care for those animals considered un-adoptable, ARFhouse also has endowment, adoption, and sponsorship programs. To learn more about the ARFhouse programs visit our website at www.arfhouse.org or give us a call.

The refuge is funded solely by donations. Martha takes no salary out of ARFhouse. Her funds go toward caring for the animals and assisting those in the community who cannot afford costly spay/neuter operations.
Martha has names for all 340+ dogs and they adore her, always following her around and vying for her attention.

Adopting a Friend (for life!)

ARFhouse has over 340+ dogs and provides refuge and care for unwanted, abused, and/or physically challenged canines without regard to size, breed, temperament, age or physical disabilities.
We normally are able to have local adoption groups handle those dogs which are "adoptable".
If you have a special heart for taking on the care of a fine canine friend that does not meet the normal definition of a pet then please contact us directly at our website. We do not adopt without a personal interview and most of those who adopt at ARFhouse have been volunteers here when they found that "special dog". All our dogs have had all shots and vet checkup before coming on the grounds. Adoption fees are based on what we have to have done to the dog to get them adoption ready.

Come Visit Us!

ARFhouse covers 40 acres and we are usually out working with the animals. Visitors are welcome but require an appointment. Please contact us by email or phone to arrange a visit. We are located in North Texas just north of HWY 82 in Sadler, which is midway between Gainesville (I35) and Sherman (HWY 75).
