Our Featured Pet

Ebony is a very sweet and well behaved pitbull that was found as a stray in Oak Cliff. She stayed in our front yard all day in the rain by the window, apparently waiting for someone to let her in, which I did once I got home. She is an adult dog and appears to have had several litters of puppies. She is very at ease with strangers, is good with dogs that don't challenge her but is alpha with those that do. She is great on a leash, unless she sees a squirrel but then she just has to be told no and she doesn't pull any more. So far she seems to be house trained even though she had a chain wired around her neck when she was found, which made us think she was chained outside. Greater Dallas inquiries only please.

THE REASON TO ADOPT: The companionship of pets enriches our lives. When you have made the decision to introduce a pet into your life, ADOPT A DALLAS PET encourages you to only adopt from rescue. Every year millions of homeless pets are killed in our Nation's shelters. The actual number estimates range from 3 to 10 million each year, but as far as we are concerned, one single dog or cat is too many. Through accident or intention, more pets are born each year than there are available homes for them. By adopting a homeless pet, you will not only be saving a life, you will be making a difference.

BECOMING A PET GUARDIAN: Deciding to add a pet to your family is a serious undertaking, and the decision should not be made impetuously. Most pets can be with you 10 to 20 years depending on the breed and health of the pet. ADOPT A DALLAS PET strongly encourages you to consider if such a long term commitment is right for you at this time. If so, we hope that we can assist you in finding a suitable match. If not, there will certainly be a better time in the future for you to share your life with a companion animal.
