The BTRGH Rescue of the Month

Meet Angie!

The lovely Angie is our Rescue of the Month for October. Angie was found as a stray running loose on the busy streets of Houston. She was picked up by animal control and would probably not have made it out of there alive were it not for Aimee, one of our wonderful volunteers. She saw something special in Angie and knew from the moment she saw her that BTRGH was her only hope.

It's easy to see that Angie is a very special girl. She's a tall and sassy BT mix who is definitely a diva. However, after having the opportunity to socialize with other dogs and be around people who love and care for her, she has turned into a warm and friendly girl. Earlier this year, Angie spent a short time in a foster home and she fit in perfectly with the family and the other dogs. The experience was great for Angie because she was able to show everyone just how sweet and amazing she is and how much she LOVES peanut butter. For highlights of her foster experience, check out Angie's slide show:

Angie has been in the rescue for quite a while now and she is ready to find her forever home. She would make a wonderful pet for a single person or a couple. She loves to run and play and would be ideal to take on walks around the neighborhood or in a park. Angie would be fine as an "only child" or in a home with other dogs.

Angie is looking for a loving family who will take good care of her and give her all the extra love and attention she deserves. If you're interested in adopting Angie, click on her name to read her complete profile and learn how you can make her a part of your family.

Due to the large volume of rescues that we handle, we desperately need more caring and enthusiastic volunteers to donate their time and talent to saving these precious kiddoes. At any given time, we have between 18 and 35 rescues residing at the kennel, so we always need regular help in the following ways:

DONATE DOGGIE SUPPLIES:

We always need dog food, treats, harnesses, leashes, shampoo, and miscellaneous doggie supplies (or gift cards from Petco or Petsmart to purchase those items).

DONATE CLEANING SUPPLIES:

We can always use laundry detergent, bleach, mops, brooms, paper towels, disinfectants, antiseptics, hand cleaners, spray deodorizers, or gift cards from any low-price store or dollar store.

KENNEL HELP:

We group-clean the kennels on Wednesday evenings between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoons between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. We welcome donations of your time and talent to help us clean the cages and runs, bathe the dogs and help with the general upkeep of the kennels. Volunteers are always needed, and new faces are greatly appreciated. If you would like to join us, please email us for directions or more information at: btr@houstonbostonrescue.org

BE A VIRTUAL FOSTER PARENT:

For just $20 a month (less than 70 cents a day!), you can become a foster parent to one of our rescues. Your monthly donation of $20 will help with that particular rescue's medical expenses and care for as long as he/she is in rescue (average 2-4 months). Your name will be listed as the virtual foster parent for that pup! If you would like to sponsor one of our rescues, just click on the link below: http://tinyurl.com/sponsorBTRGH.

Real foster homes are also desperately needed!!!

We take in such a high volume of Boston Terriers in Houston each year that there is not enough adequate housing for each dog. Please consider opening your home and your heart to one of these precious kiddoes while they await their forever homes. Thank you! http://tinyurl.com/fosterBTRGH.

THANK YOU!

Thanks so much to angels Sharon and Bobbie for their continued support over the years. In addition to paying for many surgeries, they have supplied the kennel with a new computer, printer, washer and dryer and they are always there to help out whenever we have a special need. We love you both very much!

BIG thanks go out to our wonderful friends at Molly's Mutt House in the Heights for housing some of our adorable rescues! Thanks to Molly and volunteer Aimee for taking such great care of our kiddoes!!

Check out the Muttcam and catch our rescues in action over at Molly's Mutt House, Houston's Finest Doggie Daycare: http://www.mutthouse.com.

In Memory of . . .

Our web site is dedicated to the memory of all the rescues who never had a chance - to those who were too old, too sick, to those whose injuries were just too severe, and to all the innocent souls who only briefly knew kindness and love. All of you are in alive and well in our hearts and memories.

Please remember our little lost souls in your prayers, and in their memory please take extra special care of your pets. Many of these precious little angels never had the care they so deserved in this life. For those who passed away after adoption, thank you to everyone who gave them loving homes and proper vet care for their remaining time here on earth.
