If you do any online shopping, copy and paste this link below into your browser. We are now registered with igive.com and there are literally hundreds of well known stores and web sites from which to shop. If you pick the Schertz Humane Society as your cause, a percentage of your purchase goes directly to us, and it costs you nothing extra! A way to help the animals with no pain in your pocketbook. How great is that!? www.iGive.com Thank you!!
All animals brought into our care are examined by a veterinarian, brought up to date on vaccines, heartworm tested (and treated, if positive) and started on heartworm preventative, spayed or neutered, and treated for any illnesses or parasites, and evaluated for temperament. While in foster care, dogs are housetrained and usually crate trained and may begin to learn basic commands. Cats and kittens are Fel Leuk/Aids tested if over 6 months, and are kept as house cats, so are litter box trained. Many of them live in homes with children, so are accustomed to being handled and are "child friendly". All are raised in a loving environment to prepare them to come home and live with their forever family.
Adoption fees do not usually cover the cost of medical treatment of the animals in our care. We depend on donations and fundraisers to continue our work. The Schertz Humane Society/Homes For Pets would not exist without the commitment of the volunteers who give so much of their time to help our homeless pets. Volunteer opportunities are endless. If you have some time to spare, be it an hour a day to an hour a month, we could use your help. If you'd like to get involved, we'd love to hear from you.
We can only save as many dogs and cats as we have foster space. We always need more foster homes. If you can help, please send an email to info@homesforpets.org. Or, if you can help in any other way, such as transportation, phone calls, donations, adoption day set up, etc. please let us know.
