Commerce Animal Shelter
Our Mission
The Commerce Animal Shelter's purpose is to provide a safe haven for the unwanted, lost, abandoned and mistreated animals of Hunt County, Texas. All animals will be treated with kindness and compassion and every opportunity made to find homes or rescue organizations for the animals in our care. The shelter will strive to be a respected and valued community resource.
Dog adoptions are $100.00 and it includes spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, microchip, Heartworm test, and a fecal screening for Hookworms, Roundworms, and Whipworms. If intestinal parasites are observed the pet will begin a de-worming process. Distemper/parvo and bordetella vaccines are also given to all adoptable dogs.
Puppy adoptions are $100.00 and it includes spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, microchip, distemper/parvo booster vaccine(s), and a fecal screening for Hookworms, Roundworms, and Whipworms. If intestinal parasites are observed the pet will begin a de-worming process. Distemper/parvo and bordetella vaccines are also given to all adoptable puppies.
Cat/Kitten adoptions are $85.00 and include spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, microchip, deworming and feline Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia Vaccine.
We do not guarantee the health of our pets but strive to have healthy pets available for adoption. Health Certificates are available by request and carry an additional fee. All out of state adopters must have a health certificate before the pet is allowed to leave. Please contact us for more information.
Adoption Policy
The Commerce Animal Shelter is open Mon - Fri. from 10:00-4:30 for adoptions.

We will advertise certain days where we hold special off-site adoption events as well as open Saturdays.

We also welcome rescue organizations with current 501 c3. Just email your paperwork and let me know who is an authorized transporter, and the pet's name and ID# that you would like to tag for rescue.
