Thank you for adopting and not buying!!! Every week hundreds of gorgeous dogs are put to death by local shelters just to make room. Most people would be amazed at the number of purebred dogs if they walked into their neighborhood shelter.
Rescue organizations like mine work hard to save as many as we possibly can but is a never ending process with breeders and Puppy Mills selling unhealthy animals to the public.
All of my rescue dogs are neutered or spayed, vet checked, current on shots, de-wormed, groomed and checked for heart worms. They are all are current on heart worm preventative and flea / tick meds and micro chipped.
The adoption fee covers the medical treatment, testing, preventative medicine, spay/neuter and food. Some of the dogs I rescue already have heart worms which is very expensive to treat and some are injured and need surgery. I have to set a standard fee....the goal is to not lose money so I can continue to rescue. Many times I have to pay out of my personal funds to make sure the dogs and puppies are well cared for. Adoption fee is $200 to $250 for adults and puppies are $250 to $300.
I do not usually adopt out my dogs with children under two to three years old....
Please encourage all you know to adopt!!!
I am out of foster homes and I need more to save more unwanted dogs! Let me know if you are interested in fostering a little one!! It's a short term commitment that makes such a huge difference.
Cody was the first pet I owned as an adult. He was a Shih Tzu that I bought unknowingly, from a Puppy Mill. He fought for his life and barely survived, suffering for the first few months of his life. From then on I was stirred by a ferocious passion to save as many dogs as I could through networking with other rescue groups and saving the ones I could off of cold streets and unwanted in shelters. Cody did not live a very long life due to a weakened body but I was able to love on him for eight good years! He will always be loved and forever remembered!
