The HSWC Mission
|
- To provide innovative programs and services to eliminate pet overpopulation and to improve the lives of pets and people in Williamson County.
The Humane Society of Williamson County (HSWC) is a not-for-profit 501(c) 3 organization that was founded in 1979. HSWC is 100% funded by donations, grants and fees for services. We receive no government funding.
Adopting a Friend
|
Every effort is made to place animals in good homes with responsible guardians who are willing to make a lifelong commitment to the animal. The Humane Society of Williamson County believes pet guardianship is a privilege, not a right. Potential guardians are counseled about the responsibilities of pet guardianship before adoption. Because the key to reducing the number of unwanted animals is pet population control, each adopted animal is spayed or neutered.
- Spaying and neutering is included in our adoption fees.
- A lifetime commitment must be made to the animal, and the animal must be kept as a
family pet.
- We will only adopt to a person who is 18 years of age or older and has proper
identification..
- We won't knowingly adopt an animal to a person who:
- has a documented history of animal abuse or neglect.
- will use the animal for experimentation, cult rites, blood sports, or food
purposes.
- will allow a declawed cat to roam freely outside.
- will confine a dog by a chain for extended periods of time.
- has repeatedly violated animal control laws.
- has been shown to be an irresponsible pet guardian
- is unaware of the adoption.
