Our Featured Pets: HANK and LACEY

Though DASH is primarily focused on Aussie Shepherds, we have some AMAZING non-Aussie dogs that are beyond deserving of a phenomenal new home. These are our featured pets for the week!!

Our first featured pet is HANK. HANK IS AWESOME! He is a rare California-bred kind of collie called a McNab and they are incredibly smart and agile and loyal. He is the most cuddly and fun-loving dog you could ever meet - he loves people, everyone he meets is a friend, he plays great with other dogs and he loves to follow his human around and lie by their side. At the park is when his energy shines - as soon as he is free he runs and plays, catching balls and frisbess like a champ - he is super fast, but he knows that when he gets home it is time to peace-out again. HANK is a fully-trained and housebroken young dog who came to DASH from Midland, Texas. He was in a loving home since puppy-hood but due to some personal issues his owners felt they did not have the ability any longer to provide Hank the best home. Hank is smart, fun, confident, great with kids and other dogs, would love to have other dogs to play with or be an "only child" as long as he has an owner who will give him time and affection. Please contact us to meet Hank, a loving and dedicated companion dog!

Our second featured pet is LACEY. LACEY had a litter of puppies at a shelter who were all adopted then she was left behind - BUT she seems to want nothing other than human loves and other dogs her age to play with! Lacey is so affectionate and gentle - she thinks she is a lap dog! We haven't seen her do a lot of running and playing but she had surgery last week for spay; she is probably only as moderate-energy level dog. She is quite happy to go on walks and play outdoors when possible but doesn't "need" a lot of exercise. Lacey will be a great family dog and is good with other dogs or by herself; she mostly wants a place to "hang her hat" and cuddle up and get the love she didn't get before!

News

NORTH DALLAS DOG RESCUE is becoming DALLAS AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD & HERDING (DASH) Dog Rescue After a VERY successful first year, we are looking forward this year to place even more dogs from foster to forever! Our mission is clear: to rescue abandoned dogs from local shelters and match them with loving families and permanent homes in Dallas, North Texas and beyond. At DASH, we believe the best way to provide adopters with their "forever friend" is by initially fostering rescued dogs in homes with experienced, educated dog-lovers, handlers and trainers; when we make them available for adoption we can provide adoptive families with a lot of detailed information about each dog we have had in our care! Additionally, DASH will provide dog-adoption education, training recommendations and offer services throughout the community to promote the health, safety and welfare of neighborhood dogs and their humans. A “rescue” dog requires a person and/or family who can be educated, understanding, committed, unconditionally loving and above all, patient. Rescue dogs make some of the best pets and will provide unyielding devotion and loyalty to their new “forever” families. When you adopt a dog from a rescue group, you help save TWO lives, the life of the dog you adopted, and the life of a dog that can then be pulled by our group from a local shelter.

Who We Are

Family, friends and neighbors in the Prestonwood area, have been rescuing dogs in North Dallas for several years. After recognizing the need for this service and enjoying our ability to match the best dogs with the best families, we decided to form an official non-profit organization for dog rescue. We are not a shelter; we pull adoptable dogs from euthanasia lists at municipal shelters and also take relinquished and abandoned dogs by referral only. Next, we place rescued dogs in available foster families with people we know. Foster families are screened and must meet requirements before being chosen. All of the foster families have dogs of their own and agree to treat our dogs as members of their family for as long as it takes to find the forever family.

Adopting a friend

Our adoption application is available from our website at www.northdallasdogrescue.org - This is a detailed application that aims to find people willing to do whatever it takes to give one (or two!) of our dogs the best "Happy Tail" to tell after adoption.

Adoption fee is $350.00 and dogs are fully vetted and up-to-date on vaccines.
