Who We Are
Pug Rescue of Austin (PRA) is a nonprofit organization under fiscal sponsorship of Austin Community Foundation. PRA is dedicated to the rescue and placement of abused, neglected and unwanted pugs. We do not discriminate on the basic of health or age. Our mission is to provide a safe, caring, and humane refuge for abandoned pugs and to ensure quality adoptive homes. Pug Rescue of Austin promotes responsible pug ownership through public education about the unique needs of pugs and a mandatory spay/neuter policy.
Our group rescues ALL PUGS REGARDLESS OF AGE OR MEDICAL CONDITION. Pugs rescued by PRA are taken immediately to our vet where they are examined, tested (and treated) for heartworm, vaccinated, sterilized, and rabies shots administered before being placed in a foster or permanent home.
All donations to PRA are tax deductible.
Although we are currently working under a fiscal sponsor, we have already started the process to obtain our own 501c3 status by January 2010.
