Our Featured Pet...

Samuel is one cool dog. Samuel is a 4-7 year old, 20 lb. male Lhasa Apso. This dapper fellow has excellent manners --- he is perfectly housetrained and is not one to get in your face like some of those licky little dogs. His exemplary manners extend to the car where he simply curls up and takes a nap in the passenger seat. He is one easy fellow! Samuel loves to cuddle and snuggle on the couch with his people and will devotedly follow you wherever you go. He loves going for walks and enjoys playing with plush toys. Samuel prefers adult company. He has allergies, but they are easily managed. So, if you are looking for an easy, sweet snuggler to share your life with, Samuel is your guy. Contact us at tzuzoorescue@gmail.com for information on her and the other fluffs in our program.

Who We Are

We are a small group of volunteers who are just regular people with full time jobs that just want to do what they can to save a few more dogs. We specialize in Shih Tzus and Lhasa Apsos and serve as a safety net, backing up the other well established groups in the area. We are a 501c3 non-profit charitable organization.

Adopting a friend

Our adoption process is fairly detailed as it is important for us to get to know the prospective family to make sure our rescued dogs never need to be rescued again and it is a proper fit for the breed we specialize. It starts with an application, followed with a minimum of 3 references, review of prior and current pet veterinary records, then finalized with a visit in the home. This allows the adoption committee to find the best homes for our dogs and the best dog for each approved adopter. We want both dog and people to be happy. We would like to encourage anyone seeking to add a dog to their home to consider a senior. Before you make a decision, please read: "One by one they pass my cage, Too old, too worn, too broken, no way. Way past his prime he can't run and play, Then they shake their heads slowly and go on their way. A little old man, arthritic and sore, It seems I am not wanted anymore. I once had a home, I once had a bed, A place that was warm, and where I was fed. Now my muzzle is grey, and my eyes slowly fail, Who wants a dog so old and so frail? My family decided I didn't belong, I got in their way, my attitude was wrong. Whatever excuse they made in their head Can't justify how they left me for dead. Now I sit in this cage, where day after day, The younger dogs get adopted away. When I had almost come to the end of my rope, You saw my face and I finally had hope. You saw thru the grey, and the legs bent with age, And felt I still had life beyond the cage. You took me home, gave me food and a bed, And shared your own pillow with my poor tired head. We snuggle and play, and you talk to me low, You love me so dearly and want me to know. I may have lived most of my life with another, But you outshine them with a love so much stronger. I promise to return all the love I can give, To You, my dear person, as long as I live. I may be with you for a week or for years, We will share many smiles, you will no doubt shed tears. And when the time comes that God deems I must leave, I know you will cry and your heart will grieve. And when I arrive at the Bridge, all brand new, My thoughts and my heart will still be with you. And I will brag to all who will hear, Of the person who made my last days so dear."
