After spending hundreds of dollars (we don't have) trying to figure out why all our dogs started having diarrhea and vomiting, lack of appetite, & lethargy, it turns out to be the Diamond Lamb Meal & Rice for Adults and Diamond Large breed Lamb & Rice dog food. We switched their food and everybody's feeling better, eating and pooping normally! Obviously we don not recommend Diamond brand dog foods anymore! br>

Did you know 27 million unwanted animals are given to shelters in the U.S. every year? Over 10 million animals are put to death every year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted. Be a responsible pet owner, set a good example for your children, do the right thing and get your pets spayed/neutered.

Doggie Info

Please VACCINATE your pet now and get their yearly shots on time. Puppies, until they get all 3 or 4 sets of shots, keep them home and in your back yard. Spring is the worst time ever. PARVO! Canine parvovirus is a contagious virus mainly affecting dogs. The disease is highly infectious and is spread from dog to dog by direct or indirect contact with their feces. It can be especially severe in puppies that are not protected by maternal antibodies or vaccination. It has two distinct presentations, a cardiac and intestinal form. The common signs of the intestinal form are severe vomiting and severe bloody diarrhea. The cardiac form causes respiratory or cardiovascular failure in young puppies. Parvo lives in your yard for years. Even going to Petsmart with your dog can be deadly if you pet is not fully vaccinated. So carry your puppy everywhere you go if he/she must go with you,Treatment often involves veterinary hospitalization. Vaccines can prevent this infection, but mortality can reach 91% in untreated cases.

Great news! Virbac has come out with a generic version of Heartguard for a fraction of the cost! It's called Iverhart and I paid 19.34 + tax for a six (6) month supply of 26-50lbs dogs! This is absolutely affordable by everyone so there's no excuse for not protecting your dog from heartworms.

Who We Are

Happy Dog Adoption is dedicated to placing dogs that were scheduled to be euthanized into loving, permanent homes. All these dogs were discarded, neglected or abandoned by previous owners who no longer want or can keep them, or did not take the responsibilty of being a pet owner seriously. We get our dogs from Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch and Christ-Yoder Humane Society, and take in locally abandoned puppies. All the rescued dogs have been wormed, medically treated, have their Parvo/distemper, Bordetella & rabies shots, are spayed/neutered, on heartworm & flea prevention, and are ready for their second chance at love in their forever home. Check out more dogs available for adoption on www.utopiarescue.com !

Adopting a friend

We take adoption seriously, and so should you. To maintain a medium size dog costs around $50.00 a month for food, Heartguard and Frontline, more if there are any medical problems. Be sure that you are ready to take on a 15-20 year commitment to this dog, both financially and emotionally, as dogs can live up to 20 years! We require that you have a fenced yard, that shots are kept current and heartworm & flea prevention given monthly, We ask for a minimum donation of $75.00 for any dog which covers shots, spay/neuter, and micro-chipping. You must agree that the dog be returned to HAPPY DOG ADOPTION if for any reason it does not work out with the new home. Adoption form available on request.

Thank you Tammy McPeters over at Cedar Lodge Resort in Buchanan Dam for choosing to benefit our dogs again this year. We raised enough money for dog food to get us thru the winter! Thanks to Hill Country Music of Fredericksburg who donated a guitar that all the bands autographed for the silent auction, and KFAN of Kerrville for all the air time promoting the event.
