We are all creatures of Our God "If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, You will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow man" Saint Francis of Assisi
It's official- we are now a 501c3 non-profit rescue thanks to the Tanya Faherty Foundation in loving memory of Tanya Faherty! Special thanks and love to David and Letty Templeton, Col. Linda Christ, and Lynne Houston for their love of dogs and ongoing support, and to David Berry, for giving Happy Dog a home, and all his help and support running the rescue. And to all of the wonderful people who have opened their hearts and homes to a homeless dog, God bless you all!
Winter is coming, adoptions have been slow, and we need dog food donations! Please no dog food with red dye as we have several dogs who cannot eat it- it gives some of our small breed dogs seizures. We appreciate the love and support! We always need volunteers to come share the love these dogs have to give, they just need a little time and attention! Thank you Eifert Custom Cover in Kingsland for our new dog bed covers, the dogs love them!
Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don't have enough for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog to sleep in comfort, please donate a Kuranda dog bed.
Did you know 27 million unwanted animals are given to shelters in the U.S. every year? Over 10 million animals are put to death every year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted. Pets are not disposable. If you are going to adopt a pet be a responsible pet owner, set a good example for your children, do the right thing, get your pets spayed/neutered, make the commitment for life.
We ask for donations for adoptions to cover the expense of spay/neuter. It costs an average of $50.00 a month to maintain a medium sized dog so keep that in mind! If you are considering adopting a new pet and we don't have what you're looking for please check out the beautiful, sweet dogs of all sizes available at the Lampasas Animal Shelter. Also at Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch www.utopiarescue.com and Christ-Yoder Humane Society www.christ-yoder.org
Please VACCINATE your pet now and get their yearly shots on time. Puppies, until they get all 3 or 4 sets of shots, keep them home and in your back yard. Spring is the worst time ever. PARVO! Canine parvovirus is a contagious virus mainly affecting dogs. The disease is highly infectious and is spread from dog to dog by direct or indirect contact with their feces. It can be especially severe in puppies that are not protected by maternal antibodies or vaccination. It has two distinct presentations, a cardiac and intestinal form. The common signs of the intestinal form are severe vomiting and severe bloody diarrhea. The cardiac form causes respiratory or cardiovascular failure in young puppies. Parvo lives in your yard for years. Even going to Pet Stores with your dog can be deadly if you pet is not fully vaccinated. So carry your puppy everywhere you go if he/she must go with you,Treatment often involves veterinary hospitalization. Vaccines can prevent this infection, but mortality can reach 91% in untreated cases.

Great news! Virbac has come out with a generic version of Heartguard for a fraction of the cost! It's called Iverhart and I paid 19.34 + tax for a six (6) month supply of 26-50lbs dogs! This is absolutely affordable by everyone so there's no excuse for not protecting your dog from heartworms. If you have 3 or more dogs contact us about free heartworm prevention.
