Who Are We?
The Bridge Home No Kill Animal Rescue is dedicated to the welfare of unwanted and abandoned animals. We are a non-profit organization funded entirely by membership dues and private donations and staffed by volunteers. We provide care and compassion for homeless cats and dogs until they are adopted into a loving home. Our goals are to educate, control over-population through spaying and neutering, and provide rescue for animals in need.
What you can do to help
Keep your pet's vaccinations current. Tennessee state law requires an annual rabies vaccination
for pets.
Obey the leash law. Not only is it illegal for pets to roam free outside of your property, there is a
much greater risk of injury or even death for them.
Spay or neuter your pet. Please help to stop the senseless slaughter of animals by euthanasia in
overcrowded animal shelters. One pair of unaltered cats and their offspring can be responsible for 420,000 cats in 6 years. Every year over 30 million
animals are born in the United States. Only 1 in 10 animals will find a permanent home. Also, spaying before the female's first cycle, and neutering males
reduces the risk of cancer and infection common in unaltered dogs and cats.
Report incidents of animal neglect or cruelty. Remember animals have no voice, therefore they have no
choice.

HOW CAN I BECOME A VOLUNTEER
If you are interested in joining us to help find homes for all of these lovely animals, we would love to have you. If you could open your heart and your home to one of these homeless animals and help rehabilitate them by socializing and LOTS of love-we need YOU! Be a HERO to your children. Contact Regina Isenberg, President, at (423) 239-5237.
You can become a foster family for a homeless pet.
Help us transport dogs and cats to Petsmart and to the Vet's office and for spaying and neutering.

We are always working toward finding forever homes for these precious guys. We are currently working out of the homes of our generous volunteers who are gracious enough to foster these animals until we can find them a Forever Home! They just need an opportunity to be able to show how much love they can give in return for being adopted.
DISAPPOINTING NEWS!
Unfortunately, we were not approved for the rezoning of our 9.8 acres in Blountville purchased in late March, 2007. We had intended to construct our NO KILL Adoption Center at this site. We will continue our search for more property. Our dream has not been lost-just postponed for a little while!! We would like to thank everyone for their continued support!! We could not do what we do without the support of our community. So please keep that GREEN STUFF $$$ coming in and we always NEED Volunteers & Foster Parents.
our FIRST ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT held on Friday, May 9, 2008 at Graysburg Hills Golf Course was a success. We had 13 teams; 45 hole sponsorships and we cleared $5,203. Besides the monetary benefit, we connected with like-minded people; we were so encouraged by the response of the community. It is clear that our cause is your cause. We would ask one person or business or vet’s office for a sponsorship and not only would they give one but they would turn around and get several more or they would get prizes donated or teams together – multiplying our efforts many times. The golfers themselves were obviously people that care about animals – good people; so kind to thank us for our efforts, when many of them took the day off & recruited people to play and all contributed monetarily as well. The hole sponsorship signs looked great. Loved the way Mike & Barb of Paw Print Sign & Graphics added some variety to them so that they didn’t all look the same. Thanks to Wal-Mart for sponsoring our hole-in-one and to Perkins for the abundance & variety of muffins they donated. Much credit goes to Steve & the staff at Graysburg Hills golf course for the smooth execution of the golf tournament itself. The course was beautiful & in great shape. Graysburg is the perfect course to have this tournament. They are truly animal friendly. The staff that helped with the lunch donated their tips to The Bridge Home. That really means a lot to us – Thank you. The staff at Graysburg had been caring for two sweet little dogs (“Birdie” & “Bogie”) that had been abandoned near there about a week ago. The dogs were full of ticks but what is worse they each had bb’s from a bb gun under their skin where they had been shot at. Thanks to BJ for offering to foster the two girls and to Rosa for starting the process of finding them a good home and to Susan of Paws-n-Claws, Bristol, TN for offering a free groom for each of them. Their fortune has really turned around not because of one person but because of the efforts of many each doing their part. Kudos to the volunteers, especially those outside the organization. Everyone worked well together. Well done, Marybeth, on organizing our efforts. .
We are still working for the spaying and neutering of animals, as well as locating good, loving homes for those animals without one. We are constantly stressing the importance of having your pet spayed or neutered.
If animals are spayed before 6 months of age, it will reduce the risk of cancer and prostate disease. Also, it helps to avoid aggression problems in these animals. A female cat that is not sterilized will come into heat every 3 weeks for 4-5 days. Neutered males focus their attention on staying close to their families and not roaming for a mate, which can result in injury. The procedure is a common surgery with minimal homecare afterwards. Your pet can resume normal behavior in a couple of days. Spaying and neutering not only helps animals to live longer and healthier lives, it also prevents unwanted litters of cats or dogs. Millions of cats and dogs of all breeds are euthanized annually or suffer as strays. Many strays die painfully by starvation, disease, freezing to death or hit by cars. This needless suffering can be prevented if responsible pet owners have their pets spayed or neutered.
We are always thankful for your gracious gifts of dog and cat food, collars, leashes, cat and dog treats, stamps, kitten and puppy food, bleach and detergent, old towels and blankets. And of course, any monetary gifts are most welcome.
Also, we would appreciate any donation of Purina weight circles off catfood and dogfood bags. These can be traded in for discounts on food for our homeless fostered animals. Also, we can use these weight circles in exchange for veterinary care for these animals. You can drop them in the mail to us or bring them by Petsmart in Kingsport and they will be applied directly toward animal care.
We will accept used ink cartriges that can be traded in for the "Cash For Critters Program".
Also, we collect aluminum cans that can be dropped off in a bin located in the parking lot of Companion Animal Hospital in Colonial Heights. All cans and other aluminum products need to be in a secure bag (grocery or garbage bag) for pickup. The bin located at Exxon had to be removed temporarily due to onsite construction. (At this location the cans must be dropped out of the bag into the receptacle.)
If you are reading this, then you are aware of Petfinder.com. This is a wonderful website that allows us to search for our perfect pet. Another wonderful thing that is offered as a service by Petfinder.com is that they have purchased TWO months of pet health insurance for pets that are adopted at this humane society, as well as other humane societies and rescues that are listed on Petfinder. com. When you adopt a pet, please come back to Petfinder.com and click on the link on the home page to activate your shelter care account, or be sure to ask for a brochure at the shelter (if they don't offer one, please remind them), you can call shelter care at their toll-free number to activate it or activate it online at www.sheltercare.com. This must be done within 10 days after adoption. I think it is a wonderful program, please remember to contact them to activate your adopted animal as soon as possible after adoption. This offer is good for ANY and all animals adopted.
Won't you consider adopting a forever friend and adding more love to your family. We have so many adorable animals just waiting for the chance to become part of a caring family. We participate in the Petsmart Luv-A-Pet Center in Kingsport. ALL adoptions are done at this location. You can check out our PET OF THE WEEK in the Adopt -A-Pet list in the Kingsport Times News every other Wednesday.
