Who We Are

A Paw and A Prayer Rescue is the result of two friends with a common bond - to help dogs that were abandoned, neglected and abused in the Chattanooga and surrounding areas. I am the founder of A Paw and A Prayer and a volunteer foster parent - I bring dogs into my home setting and begin the adoption process. I am not funded by any organization and operate from our my resources and donations. I rely entirely on the generosity of friends and strangers. Some dogs come to me by owners who no longer want them or who can no longer care for them. Often owners surrender their pets to local shelters and there is a chance that their beloved pet could be euthanized. This is where APAAP comes into the picture - I try to help reduce the number of pets turned into shelters.I also try to help our local shelters by pulling abandoned adoptable pets into our foster program. As APAAP has grown, I have initiated a Foster Parent Program. Without our foster parents I could not pull and rescue as many dogs as I do. Once they have been rescued they are seen by a Veterinarian and are vaccinated, treated for intestinal parasites, and are spayed or neutered. Many of the dogs require additional expensive medical treatment, for heartworms, broken bones, mange and other diseases. My group is now part of a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) and donations are tax-deductable. I also have a DONATE button on my web site: www.apawandaprayer.com A huge thanks to my sweet friend Stephanie with Punkie Paws Mobile Grooming for her continuing quick response to my EMERGENCY groomings!! VOLUNTEERS are an integral part of my rescue - I need help at adoptions on the weekends and help with cleaning kennels at my home during the week and weekends. If you want to help and make a difference to these babies, give me a call! Look for my babies at BOTH Petco and PetSmart at Hamilton Mall off Gunbarrel Rd. I have gotten so big and there are so MANY dogs who need homes, that I have branched out to TWO locations. You can call Judy at 423-718-0939 to see who and which dogs will be at which place. I will be at either Petco or PetSmart ON SATURDAY and also Sundays. All A Paw and A Prayer dogs are seen by a licensed Veterinarian prior to adoption - they have been given their age-appropriate shots, bordatella, de-worming, Revolution and any other vetting needs by the Veterinarian. Dogs at Petco or PetSmart have had a minimum of 2 DHLPP shots, given by my vet!
