TESS is an awesome girl who would love to be your forever love! She is one of a kind in that she adores your attention, but doesn't demand it and can be pretty independent and just chill and take in the day. She is appx. 2-3 yrs. old....very soulful and smart gal and loves to go places when given the chance! You won't regret having had this one in your life! And we hope you will have room for TWO as she and her daughter, Callie, we are hoping to place together.
News
With the loss of one of my own precious senior collies, Dawson, my beautiful white-factored tri male, who suffered complications after a stroke, I will be taking a much needed break to honor his memory and grieve his loss as Dawson is the collie who introduced me to the world of rescue 10 yrs ago after adopting him from a local rescue who took him home to foster from a local shelter. Dawson lived to be 12+ years old. He was the greatest frisbee player in his prime, a fun dance partner when he still had his balance, a keeper of all the rescue pups on the farm, and one who kept anyone that got out of line, back in line! I know I made a difference in his life , but he made a significant difference in mine and made it possible to save many more wonderful collies through the years. So at this time, we will only be placing the current rescues on this site.
Who We Are
Established in 1999 (and formerly known as Collie Rescue of Thompsons Station, TN), Collie Rescue of Chapel Hill, TN primarily rescues unwanted, neglected, abused or abandoned collies (and shelties on occassion). We are very limited as to the number of rescue dogs we can take in, so we can only help those that are local and within a reasonable distance within the Middle TN area.
Adopting a friend
Every dog adopted out by CRCHTN must be intended for a housedog. Collies long to be with their companion owner/s/family. They tend to get bored very quickly when cast outside to stay.
We require a fenced yard. We do, on occasion, make an exception to this rule, depending on the situation, and the dog. Exceptions are at the sole discretion of CRCHTN and primarily IF the dog is a known fence climber. We do not consider electronic fence an acceptable fence. Collies necks have to be shaved in order for a shock collar to penetrate their heavy coats and if t-storm scared, they will often run through it deliberately to run away, join (or chase) another dog, a cat or a kid on a bike, and then they can't get back in. In fact, an electronic fence gives an entirely unwarranted sense of security and cannot keep predators from entering the yard.
An adoption application will be sent upon receipt of interest in learning about a particular rescue......fenced yard, vet reference and home visits are required. We will then schedule a phone interview upon receipt of the application. Adoption fee does apply, and seniors are discounted to the right home.
Our adoption fees helps us to defray all vet costs and to carry us from one dog to the next as not all rescues come in healthy, nor young. All rescues are fully vetted (treated for heartworms where applicable) and placed on heartworm prevention and flea and tick control. This fee also helps us to carry the seniors/the ones who never leave.
*SORRY - we do not ship/transport dogs*
