Memphis Pit Bull Safe Haven
Our Featured Pet
Gina
10/14/2008
Gina was rescued from a neglectful owner. She was left in a backyard chained to a post with 3 feet of chain. Gina had no food or water, even after we bought them food for her they still never fed her. We brought her into rescue, now she is doing GREAT. Gina gets along with dogs, and is good with children. Gina is about 1 year old. She is house broken and leash trained. Gina is a very sweet girl who loves to play, and be with people!

Who We Are
For the love of fat heads!!! Memphis Pit Bull Safe Haven is a second chance pit bull program we run out of our home. We spay/neuter, vaccinate, socialize, and adopt to loving homes capable of owning a pit bull. Memphis Pit Bull Safe Haven (MPBSH) is a program developed for the benefit of the PIT BULL POPULATION. If you have a home, and want to open it up to a beautiful, devoted, loyal dog....we have one for you! MPBSH wants to make adopting one of our dogs an enriching experience for the potential adopter, our rescued dog, and our volunteers. Adopting one of our dogs is not meant to be easy, however, most people who adopt one of our dogs not only understand, but they also appreciate that our utmost goal is to place these dogs in good, stable homes. The dogs that come into our program for the most part have been neglected, abused and then cast off when they were no longer useful to their uncaring owners. We are dedicated to ensuring that the remainder of their lives will be spent as a cherished family member. They deserve to receive love, patience, proper nourishment, training, veterinary care and devotion by their forever families.
Apdoption Requirements:
- Most importantly we require that your new dog be regarded as a member of your family and receive the love and attention all dogs crave and require to be happy and healthy pets.
- The dog must live inside with the family.
- Adopters must be at least 21 years of age.
- Previous pit bull ownership experience preferred, but not required.
- Demonstration of responsible pet ownership and primary care giver of a dog, including spay and neuter of current pets.
- Referral from veterinarian of current or previous pets.
- Referral from a non-family member that is familiar with current or previous pet(s).
- Homeowners must be aware of breed discrimination within home owner insurance policies and check with their insurance company to be certain the breed they are adopting will not jeopardize their coverage.
- Homeowners must also be aware of any restrictions or covenants within their homeowner’s associations and neighborhood associations which may restrict breeds.
- Renters must be aware of any breed restrictions imposed by their apartment community and/or landlord(s).
- Renters also must be willing to pay any pet deposits required by their landlord(s).
- Ability to care for the dog financially.
- Potential adopters must provide regular veterinary care, including vaccinations, heartworm preventative and flea and tick preventatives.
- All family members must agree to add a new dog to the household and be present at the time of the interview, home visit and introduction of the new dog to the home.
If you do not meet these minimum requirements, please wait until your circumstances change before applying to adopt. MPBSH handles each adoption application individually, on a case-by-case basis. We consider each adoption to be that dog's home for the remainder of its life. We work to find the right environment for the dog and the right dog for the adopter's environment. We are under no obligation to adopt a dog to any individual. Memphis Pit Bull Safe Haven takes anywhere from one day to three weeks to process an application depending on the location of the adopter, the thoroughness of answers on the application and the availability of persons provided as references.
Memphis Pit Bull Safe Haven's adoption fee is $150. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, DHLPP-C, rabies, heartworm test/ treatment if needed and fecal/ deworming if needed.
