PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THE BIO OF ANY DOG IN WHICH YOU ARE INTERESTED SINCE THERE MAY BE ADOPTION RESTRICTIONS. WE ONLY ADOPT TO HOMES WITH CHILDREN ABOVE THE AGE OF 10 YEARS. Homes with fenced yards are given preference to those without (all other things being equal). SCMR does not adopt to homes with Electric Fences*. Large aggressive dogs or predatory animals can easily get in to the yard to hurt, fight even injure dogs confined with this type of fence. In addition to injury or even death, dogs are more accessible to thieves. Please understand that this is a volunteer effort and we all work full time in addition to doing rescue. Any help in speeding up the adoption process is appreciated. We receive many emails and an average of over 2000 HITS A DAY on our website, scmradoption.com. We will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience! **NOTE** We do NOT encourage giving pets as GIFTS. However, you may pay the adoption fee as a 'gift' for your special someone, but we will require an adoption application to be completed by the adopter (recipient of your 'gift').
Our dogs come to us from various sources including shelters. We do not always know the full history of the dog, some have come from abusive or neglectful situations. We will share as much information on the dogs as we can with 'approved prospective homes'.
Our dogs are in foster homes. Each foster has the 2-letter state code by his or her name where they are located. We are sorry, but there is no "shelter" available for you to visit. Petfinder has teamed up with PetFirst Health Care. The PetFirst Adoption policy gives adopters the first month of comprehensive pet health insurance for $5.00 with additional months at $14.95. |

WHO WE AREWe are dedicated to rescuing and caring for Maltese and other toy breeds (as room allows) who are either rescued from shelters, found as strays, or no longer wanted by their family (owner). We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization so all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. These little dogs need YOUR help now. Every little bit can help. Donations can be made out to: Southern Comfort Maltese RescuePO Box 2005 Chattanooga, TN 37409 -- OR -- make a donation via PayPal by clicking ADOPTING A FRIENDTo be considered to adopt one of our babies, please fill out an APPLICATION. Adopting any animal takes a lot of commitment. We require an application, reference check and home visit. Adoption donations are based on the age of the animal and medical expenses incurred. Each dog has had all vaccinations, been dewormed, heartworm tested (and treated if necessary), dental (if needed), spay/neuter, and any other medical attention he/she needs. The adoption fee helps recover a PORTION of the money spent on each rescued animal. We are committed to try to find the best home possible for each of our little ones so that they don't end up in a similar situation down the road. Out of state adoptions are possible; however, the new owner is required to help with the transportation of the dog, as we will not ship them. Additionally, all dogs requiring transportation must have a crate or seatbelt harness (cost to be borne by the adoptive family). WANT TO DONATE?We are always in needs of flea and heartworm preventative, small collars/harnesses, leashes, toys, towels, baby blankets, crates, monetary donations towards vet work, etc. SCMR PO Box 2005 Chattanooga, TN 37409 Email : scmr1@yahoo.com Click here for a list of pets available through our organization ![]() [Home] [Information] [Shelters] [Search] |
