MID TN WORKING DOG RESCUE
Mid TN Working Dog Rescue
"If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men." - ~St. Francis of Assisi~

Mid TN Working Dog Rescue primarily aids dogs that fall into a working dog category that have ended up in shelter situations. Our rescue program was organized in 2005 as All Cattle Dogs Rescue and Rehabilitation, a group focused on Australian Cattle Dogs aka Blue/Red Heelers. Mid TN Working Dog Rescue has the same focus in mind, but has expanded our network to include other dogs that fit a working breed profile. Almost all dog breeds were bred with a job in mind. Our primary interest is in dogs that do not have a pet quality temperament; the dogs in our program are happier with a job. This dog could be a Jack Russell on up to a Belgian Malinois. Our interest has long been to evaluate a foster dog and find it an appropriate home. When we take a dog that has been discarded for it's busy nature, it is our desire to develop that behavior into something constructive and desirable.
Mid TN Working Dog Rescue intends to pair humans and canines in a match that will last a lifetime. Once a dog ends up in our program there are a multitude of steps that must be met before the dog is put up for adoption; such as veterinary exam and care, temperment evaluation and modification, if necessary. Our organization's intention is for every dog in our program to have the opportunity to meet a family that will be suitable for their temperment and energy level. Therefore, it is our ultiimate goal to make it more appealing to seek out a rescue dog than to purchase a puppy from a breeder. How can we do this, you ask?
Mid TN Working Dog Rescue has a list of standards that each of our foster dogs must meet prior to adoption.

Additional thoughts to consider prior to adopting a dog
The video below is of a fellow cattledog enthusiast with several of her RESCUE Australian Cattle Dogs who she has taken above and beyond, by pursuing and excelling, in disc dog competitions. Disc dogs competitions, aka frisbee, are one of the many dog sports available to the dog enthusiast! Please, take a moment to watch Tracy and her dogs; they really are a dream to watch!
The standard donation to adopt is $175. This contribuition is designed to help offset the expenses of a foster dog which includes microchip identification (ideally, AVID or HomeAgain, but occassionally 24PetWatch), sterilization (spay or neuter sugery), vaccination against Rabies, Distemper/Parvo and Kennel cough, deworming for intestinal parasites (Panacur and Droncit or Drontal Plus), flea control (usually, Capstar, Advantage or Frontline) and heartworm prevention (Interceptor or Ivermectin).
Occasionally, as a courtesy, we will post a dog that is not part of the Mid TN Working Dog Rescue program. In this scenario, the contact information for individual(s) responsible for the dog in the courtesy posting will be displayed with the biography. Mid TN Working Dog Rescue is not responsible for a courtesy posting; the adoption fees, contract, etc. are up to whomever is responsible for the adoptable dog.
Please, note, that this organization is not a public shelter. Mid TN Working Dog Rescue is comprised of volunteers who donate their time, money and resources to help these worthy dogs have a second chance. Please, contact our director, at the email address below, to arrange an appointment. In order to facilitate the adoption process, please, click here to fill out an adoption application. Once the adoption application is complete, you may send it as an attachment to the email address below.
