Who We Are
The Monroe County Animal Shelter is now the temporary home to many stay, abandoned, and unwanted animals. We have recently opened our doors to the people and animals of Monroe County.
With our open door policy, we accept all cats and dogs from Monroe County area that are without a home.
After animals are turned over to us, our job begins.
We work diligently to find loving permanent homes for our furry friends.
We know that each of them has something to offer.
We strive to build relationships with the community businesses and individuals. These partnerships give the animals brought to us a better change at a long meaningful life.
While these animals are trusted in our care, we are working with them to become better adjusted and make transition easier when they find their forever home.
Many volunteers come to the shelter each day to help with the daily tasks, but also take time to socialize with the animals, walking, bathing, brushing, and training them with clicker training.
We also have a Foster Care Program. We provide the food and medications, you provide the TLC. Foster placement is for a two week period prior to our "Rolling Rescue" to our sister sheler in NY. We are in urgent need of foster homes, please stop by to apply!
Adopting a friend
We try to keep our information as up to date as possible, but sometimes that proves to be a challange.
If you see a picture of an animal you are interested in, please feel free to give us a call or STOP IN!
With new animals arriving daily, your perfect pet is waiting.
The cost is only $80.00 to adopt a dog and $70.00 to adopt a cat. This adoption fee includes the spay or neuter of the animal, first worming, first vaccination as well as a rabies shot.
All animals must be spayed or nuetered before leaving our shelter.
After you choose your new family member and complete the necesary adoption contract and fee, he/she will be sent to our local vet asap, then you can start your "happily ever after" together.
We are happy to adopt our pets out of the area or out of state, the adopter arranges transport.

We have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our boarding facilities because they are so good for our dogs. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.
