Thanks to Dr. Miller and all of Agetha's Angels who pitched in and made donations towards her care! She is doing great and now ready for her forever home!!!
Agetha is 2-3 yr old Pom mix (we originally thought she was older because she was in such poor health), who was found wandering blind at a busy intersection in Frayser.
Agetha needed surgery for juvenile cataracts on one eye and complicated surgery to remove the other eye and replace it with a prosthesis. Estimates for her 2 eye surgeries are approximately $1800+.
With the support and donations from Agetha's Angels and support of everyone one at Dr. Miller's office, we have collected enough money for Agetha to undergo her surgeries!!!
Agetha's medical expenses have grown exponentially as we have cared for her. Her round-the-clock care when she had pneumonia, and then GI problems have caused our bills to skyrocket. The amount raised will cover Agetha's eye surgery and anesthesia ONLY. ($1825 for cataract surgery and $250 for anesthesia) All of Agetha's other medical expenses (vaccines, heartworm test, mange treatment, pneumonia treatment (including being on IV antibiotics and fluids for almost a week), GI infection treatment, spay, etc) will run almost $750 (after her spay scheduled for mid-Jan).
Even though Agetha is by far the most expensive dogs we have cared for, we wouldn't change it for the world. Agetha's will to live and thrive is an inspiration and she brings joy to everyone who meets her.
Thanks!!!
~The Crue

Who We Are:
Muttley Crue is a small rescue operating out of PRIVATE HOMES, dedicated to giving misplaced, abused, abandoned, and otherwise unwanted pets a second chance for a happy, peaceful life. We are registered with the state of TN to solicit donations and we are recongized as an approved charity. We have a non-profit EIN number with the IRS. We are currenlty working on obtaining our 501(c)3 status. All funds received are directly funding our rescue efforts and medical needs for our dogs. Muttley Crue rescues dogs and cats from immediate peril, rehabilitates them physically, socially and emotionally, and then through a thorough screening process, matches the pets personality and needs with an adoptive family.
We receive NO government or any other grant funding! Muttley Crue is staffed entirely by volunteers and adoption fees are used to care for the rescued pets!!!
All pets have been vet checked, are up to date on age appropriate shots, tested/treated for parasites, heartworm tested/treated, have had all medical and behavioral concerns addressed, and are spayed/neutered (if old enough). *
Adopting a friend:
Muttley Crue is dedicated finding the best possible home for all the pets in the organization. We are dedicated to helping each adoptive family find the newest member of the family that will best meet the family's and the pet's needs and life style.
Adoption fees vary depending on the care required to rehabilitate each individual pet, but usually range from $125.00-$250.00. *(Some young puppies/kittens require a spay/neuter contract and an additional spay/neuter deposit of $25.)
A completed "Adoption Application" is required, in addition to an approved vet reference or 2 personal character references, a home visit, and a personal interview. Some dogs and cats with special needs may have a more involved adoption process due to the pets needs and our dedication to finding the best home for each pet.
The adoption fee includes: Spay/neuter-from $98-$245 value All shots/deworming/fecal-$144(Kittens)$177(puppies)value Rabies shot (and tag for puppies/dogs)-$16 value Heartworm test-4DX(Dogs)-$22.50 value Heartworm treatment (if needed)(dogs)-$325-$650 value FeLV/FIV test(cats)-$34 value Adoption kit-$20 value Training DVD(Dogs)-$29 value Collar with ID tag(Dogs)-$10 value Aproximately $200 in money saving coupons!!
That is a value of $300 (cats)-$500 (dogs) total!!!
(Vetting costs are based on regular, full price charges at BAH.)
NOTE TO ADOPTERS: Lassie and Cleo and Rin Tin Tin and Toto don't show up in rescue. We don't get the elegantly coiffed, classically beautiful, completely trained, perfectly behaved dog. We get the leftovers. Dogs that other people have incompetently bred, inadequately socialized, ineffectively "trained," and badly treated. Most Rescue dogs have had it. They've been pushed from one lousy situation to another. They've never had proper veterinary care, kind and consistent training, or sufficient company. They've lived outside, in a crate, or in the basement. They're scared, depressed and anxious. Some are angry. Some are sick. Some have given up.
But we are Rescue and we don't give up. We never give up on a dog. We know that a dog is a living being, with a spirit and a heart and feelings. Our dogs are not commodities, things, or garbage. They are part of sacred creation and they deserve as much love and care and respect as the next Westminster champion.
So please, please don't come to rescue in the hopes of getting a "bargain," or indeed of "getting" anything. Come to Rescue to give, to love, to save a life -- and to mend your own spirit. For Rescue will reward you in ways you never thought possible. I can promise you this -- a rescue dog will make you a better person.
