<h3>Waverly Animal Shelter

We operate off of a first come, first serve basis. We have held animals for people that in turn did not show--we refused a lot of good homes for several dogs due to holding. We understand that some people may not be able to get to us right away, and we appoligize for that, however we are here for the best interest of the animals. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Our Adoptable Pet List

SAVE A LITTER, FIX YOU'RE CRITTER!!!

Low Cost Spay & Neuter Program

Humphrey's County Humane Society
and our local vets work together to help
reduce cost on Spay/Neuter for qualified
families. The cost is $50 per animal,
limit 2 per home. To complete an application
and schedule the vet appointment, stop by the
Waverly Animal Shelter any time during regular hours.

Foster Facts

**We are always in need of short term foster homes.
If you are able to foster any animal for a short time
until they can be transported please contact us
ASAP---YOU can save lives!!!

Commitment Shy?

If you are considering adopting, but are a little unsure
of the commitment, we have a "Prospective Foster Program",
which means that you can take an animal into your home
for 5 days without adopting, and see how it works,
when the 5 days are up, you either return or adopt the animal.

Humphrey's County Humane Society

Our humane society provides shelter animals
with vet care and medication. HCHS also investigates
reports of animal cruelty and abuse. Humane society
members are all volunteer's, and are always in need
of help as well as donations. HCHS meetings
are held once a month, the first Tuesday of every month,
at 6:30 PM in the Public Works building in Waverly.
Anyone is welcome to attend a meeting.
Membership dues are $15 per year.

Have a Problem With Feral Cats?

We offer two ways to help you with Feral Cats
Trap and Release-We have humane live traps at the shelter.
You can rent a trap for a $30 deposit, which will be returned when
the trap is returned. You can choose to have the animal spayed or
neutered for a reduced cost, and returned to the location it was found.
Or bring it to the shelter and it will be humanely eithanized.
If the cat is indeed feral, there is no way it can be adopted out.
They are a concern for safety to themselves as well as others.
Contact us at 931-296-7319 for more info.

Who We Are

We are the Waverly Animal Shelter. We are employed
by the City Of Waverly. We take in unwanted, lost, and
abandoned animals from Humphreys County and try to
find them homes. We work with the Humphreys County
Humane Society, and the local vetrinarians, to get the
medical care the animals need. We NEED numerous
volunteers and donations to help make the animals stay
at the shelter comfortable, and enjoyable. If you have a
little time you could spare and would like to help, please
stop by and pet a pup, or cuddle a kitty. Each of us can
make a difference for one animal at a time.
