We are looking for foster families who are able to take one of our great pets into their home and begin basic obedience and housetraining. Pets are much more adoptable when we know specific information about them and having a pet in a home is a great way to find out what their personality is like. Just contact us if you feel you and your family would have the time and energy to be a foster family.
Who We Are
We are a non-profit corporation and are a 501(c)(3) organization. Our Humane Society is located in beautiful Fentress County, Jamestown Tennessee. There are no shelters in our county and we take pets as foster placement when space is available. We provide money for low-income families to have their pets spayed or neutered and place the highest priorty on this program. We work with school aged children and provide programs like the ASPCA's "I love animals" program to teach kindness and compassion to our young friends. We visit our area Nursing Home with pets to promote and continue the human and animal bond. We also teach about the animal abuse / human violence connection in our community. We have provided animal and pet care books to our local library to reach a wide variety of people in our community on responsible pet care. We are constantly raising money to reach our future goal of having a shelter so that even more lives can be saved. All donations are appreciated and are tax deductable.
Adopting a friend
After choosing and meeting your new friend, we require an adoption application to be submitted for a reference check and screening. This usually takes about a week and then you will be notified of the results. We work hard to make sure a good match occurs between the pet and you and your family. Some of these animals have had very sad pasts and we want only the best for them. After application approval you will be required to sign a standard contract promising to care for the animal in a kind and humane way. The animal will be spayed and neutered before adoption, vaccinations and dewormings up to date and vet checked. We do ask for an adoption fee of $75.00 to cover a portion of the expenses.
