We are a group located throughout the Mid-South area that is dedicated to rescuing homeless dogs from neglected, helpless situations. We have rescued a few felines, bunnies and reptiles as well. We are not able to accept owner surrenders or animals from individuals.* Since we do not have a public facility, "foster parents" bring these animals into their homes where they are lovingly cared for, rehabilitated, socialized and carefully placed with compatible people who are willing to be their lifelong friend.
*If you are looking for assistance with placing your rescued animal or pet, please send us a detailed email along with a picture of your pet, and we will gladly attempt to help you place your animal.
Open Paws Pet Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill, all-volunteer group and all of our expenses for the basic care, medical attention, food, etc. for our rescues are paid for directly by the members of Open Paws and those of you who generously donate to help these precious animals.

Open Paws' Adoption Process: Submit an application. Each application is reviewed by a member of Open Paws. If more than one application is received for one animal, the most compatible applicant will be chosen. Upon approval of your application or notice of a compatible match, contact will be made by an Open Paws' member to set up a convenient time to introduce your family to the pet. If the pet is adopted, Open Paws allows a two week trial period during which the adopter may decide if that pet is a good fit for his or her household. If for ANY reason the adoption does not work out, the adopter must immediately contact Open Paws! |

Please tell us how many people are in your household, and list their ages (required) Is anyone in your household opposed to a new pet? Do you own or rent your home? (required) If you are renting, please provide your landlord's name and telephone number. Is your yard securely fenced? If so, what kind of fence do you have? Do you have a swimming pool? How will you ensure your pet's safety outdoors? What will you do if your pet has behavior problems, such as not being housebroken or chewing? How much time would you be willing to give a new pet to get used to you and the new surroundings? What medical care will you provide for your pet, and how often? How much do you feel your pet's medical care would cost? What will you do if your pet becomes ill or injured and requires expensive medical care? Please provide the name and number of your current or past veterianarians,even if they are in another city or state: If no veterianarian reference is available, please provide us with names and phone numbers of at least 3 references. Please not that only one of these references can be a family member. Please read this before submitting your application. By signing this application, the applicant agrees to allow Open Paws Pet Rescue to check the references provided. The applicant must also agree if they are granted a pet and for whatever reason cannot keep it, they MUST return the pet. The adoption donation is NON REFUNDABLE.
