PETS FOR THE ELDERLY

We are working with The Pets for the Elderly Foundation to provide free adoptions to seniors 60 and over. We think that our mature cats and dogs make purrfect companions for our mature adoptors. Cats and Dogs must be 1 year or older and some restrictions apply.

VOLUNTEERS!

We are always looking for new recruits to help walk dogs, socialize the animal, assist kennel & adoption staff, foster animals, etc. If you would like more information, contact our volunteer coordinator, Caroline Foley.

ROVER!

The Nashville Humane Association is taking a new step to help control the pet population and promote responsible pet ownership in our community. NHA, with the assistance of a local veterinarian, will be operating a spay/neuter vehicle called Rover. Rover will travel throughout Davidson county and surrounding counties to provide free spay/neuter and other vet services for the pets of people who qualify. Rover is ready to work! You can call (615) 352-4030, to determine eligibility and schedule an appointment for your pet.

Who We Are

The Nashville Humane Association is a private non-profit service organization whose mission is to promote the humane treatment of animals. It is one of the oldest service organizations in Nashville, tracing its roots back to a society founded in 1887 to protect children from inhumane working conditions and draft horses from mistreatment. Today its main function is finding good homes for stray or abandoned dogs and cats, and educating the public about their responsibility to help control the pet population.

Adopting a Friend

NHA is excited to help you find a lifelong furry friend! We request that you complete an adoption application, which helps us to ensure the safety of the animals, while enabling our adoption counselors to assist you in choosing the pet most suitable to your lifestyle. The adoption fee ranges from $45 to $160, depending on the age, size and breed of the animal; this fee includes spay/neutering, the initial veterinary exam, and one round of vaccinations (with exception to rabies vaccination).
