does a limited amount of animal placements. We have foster families who house a limited number of animals. Our website features what animals we have available or you are welcome to call, e-mail, or if you're in the area, attend one of our meet-and-greet events. We take in animals we feel would be adoptable only if bed space allows. We also try to link purebred dogs with breed rescue groups when feasible, and we keep a list of people who are looking for a particular type of dog or cat and link them up with what animals are available in the area. All of our dogs and cats are vet checked and spayed or neutered.
Our Purpose is:
To educate the children in Blount County to make them more aware of animal related issues so they hopefully grow up being more responsible citizens.
To provide temporary housing for as many animals as possible and linking them up with purebred breed rescue groups or people wanting to adopt.
To promote changes in Blount County to make it a more animal friendly environment and improve the quality of life for animals awaiting adoption.
To promote the need for spaying and neutering pets by working with groups who already provide this service.
To educate the public on animal welfare issues.
Adopting a friend
We do require that an adoption agreement be signed. The dog and cat adoption fee is $100.00 to $225.00 with discounts for older or hard-to-adopt animals. Rabbits and other animals adoption fees are less. If you have a pet that you can no longer care for and we have bed space and believe the animal to be adoptable, we can take the animal into our foster program for a fee of $35.00.

Blount CARE Needs Volunteers
If you live in the Blount County area of East Tennessee and would be interested in helping with animal rescue, we need the following:
Foster Homes: These are people who are willing to keep dog(s) or cat(s) at their home and basically treat them as their own pet for a period of time. We also like the foster parent to take the dog(s) to an obedience class on Monday nights to get the animal socialized. This helps ensure a successful adoption.
Transportation Providers: We work with different groups who also take in animals and sometimes an adoption is available in another area. In these cases we might need someone to take an animal and deliver it to another person who will then continue on the route or deliver the animal directly to another caretaker.
Foster Home Helpers: Sometimes a home may have several animals that may need to be exercised. In this case you could volunteer certain days to come and walk and/or play with the animals. Other times this involves taking the animal(s) to an adoption event that the foster parent is unable to attend. The helpers coordinate their activities with the foster parent.
