We sympathize with strays and owner surrenders, but unfortunately we are unable to accept ANY of these animals...we ONLY pull those in immediate danger of being euthanized from area animal shelters, when space is available.
The primary mission of PETS ALIVE! is to visit area "kill" shelters and rescue pets in immediate peril of being euthanized. They are fostered at a sanctuary located on private property until they have been rehabilitated--whether it be treating for heartworms, skin problems, or any of the numerous ailments we frequently encounter in animals that come from shelters.
After we feel the dog has been returned to good health, socialized properly and has been given some basic obedience training, we then seek suitable adopters for our animals.
Adopting a friend...
PETS ALIVE! maintains stringent guidelines for adopting one of our pets. Our desire is to "pair" the animal with the right family by completing in-home visitations, which will allow us to inspect the environment the animal will live in.
All homes must have a fenced yard, and in the case of "jumpers" there must be a 6' high wooden fence.
We encourage "companion" pets, having found that pets - dogs in particular - benefit from having a companion, or "buddy". We will assist you in finding your compatible companion!
