Who We Are
Crusader Resources is committed to helping dogs that are abandonded, surrendered to shelters, or otherwise no longer wanted or cared for. Our rescue focusses on the German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Labrador & Golden Retriever, and Doberman breeds but we are committed to helping all dogs. We understand that the larger breeds are commonly misunderstood and dogs are branded as unstable, unintelligent, or useless by ignorant owners and caregivers.
Russ and Shaun evaluate each animal that is rescued for any special behavioral or health needs. Each dog is vetted, brought up to date on its shots, and sterilized. Because of their unknown history, rescued dogs are never used for breeding nor available to breeders. Once healthy, the dog is trained for advanced obedience to become not a pet, but a great dog that is a pleasure to have around any home.

We are very happy to offer Low-Cost private lessons and training. Our training is structured very differently than the average obedience club or pet-shop class: we work with you and your dog in a unique one-on-one lesson format. Dogs still have the opportunity to become fully socialized around other dogs and people, but there is much more focussed training in a lesson than in a typical "obedience school" style class that is commonly found around the area.
Lessons are flexibly scheduled to suit an active and busy schedule.
Our training methods are very safe, kind, and are extremely effective. With Crusader Resources, you will learn to communicate to your dog in a manner that he/she understands clearly. This allows you to build a good, solid relationship with your dog and show him/her what you expect with the least amount of stress for either of you. We are able to help you help your dog to overcome common problems (and not so common ones) such as aggression, dominance, Separation Anxiety, fear biting, and submission...there is no problem that is too big that we can't work through.
Don't have behavior problems, just an untrained dog? We can show you how to train your dog quickly and effectively. You can have "the dog" that everyone talks about without spending hundreds of dollars and all of your free time at boring classes.

Crusader Resources is owned and operated by Russ and Shaun Rathy. Russ and Shaun are both Certified Narcotics Detector Dog Handlers and Detector Dog Trainers. They also have earned diplomas and certificates in Canine Behavior and Training. Russ is a certified behavior consultant and is recognized for his success in training and rehabilitating Dangerous and abused dogs.
Adopting a friend
Once each dog is fully rehabilitated and healthy, it is to rehomed to an appropriate individual or family. Every person or family is required to submit an application, and a home check and verification of their veterinary references may also be neccessary. No dogs will be allowed to go home prior to the signing of an adoption contract.
Adoption fees vary according to each dog's age, health, and veterinary needs. Senior/special needs dogs are available at a reduced price...we want to see every dog find his/her forever home!
Every adoption includes post-adoption support and phone advice, and training help is available at an affordable rate!
