Our Happy Tails of Adopted Animals!

Featured Cat - CLEMENTINE!

Clementine is an adult female Brown Tabby with White. She has beautiful splashes of bright orange throughout her fur. She came to our shelter as a stray on November 15/08. She is very social and friendly and is the official shelter greeter. She enjoys being petted and loves to head-butt and grind her face on everything near her. She is not, however, a fan of dogs, so needs to go to a home without canines. Please welcome this sweetheart into your home!

Featured Dog - LEILA!

We currently have 3 female and 1 male Black Lab puppies available for adoption! They are all black with the exception of Leila (pictured) who has some white on her. They are very friendly and playful puppies who have been socialized with kids, cats, and other dogs. They have access to the outside through a dog door and when it's open they will do the majority of their bathroom business outside, or keep their mess confined to newspapers laid out for them. Please consider bringing one of these cuties into your life!

NOTE FOR OUT-OF-TOWN-ADOPTERS: MLDHS is a volunteer run operation - on occasion we MAY be able to provide transportation of a pet towards North Battleford, Saskatoon and sometimes towards Edmonton or Regina but ONLY if we have a volunteer making a trip out of town. If transportation should be available for your pet - fuel costs will be charged accordingly. Please check with us once your application is approved to see if transportation may be available at that time. Please remember that it is the responsibility of the adopter not MLDHS to arrange for transportation of the pet. We will certainly try to accommodate should a volunteer be making a trip your direction, but we cannot guarantee a ride will be available at any time. Thank you!

Please also send an email after you fill out the application to verify that it was received. Thanks!

MLDHS is in need of Foster Homes!! Both Full-time & Part-time! If you are uncertain about adopting a dog and the commitment involved, please consider becoming a weekend foster home! You can take a shelter dog into your home for a weekend to give it the experience of a home environment, lots of attention, and socialization, as well as a much needed break from the shelter! Many great shelter dogs are with us for long periods of time, and while we try to make their stay in the shelter as comfortable as possible, nothing is better than being in a home, even if it's just for a couple of days! If this sounds like something you or someone you know would be interested in doing, please contact MLDHS.

MLDHS had the great opportunity of purchasing a set of Kennels in conjunction with the Town of Meadow Lake. We are now able to take care of more animals than we have been able to in the past. Thank you to the Town for investing in the animals futures! The dogs and cats are enjoying their new safe and clean environment!

Who We Are

The Meadow Lake & District Humane Society was formed in the summer of 2003. The MLDHS is an animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing homeless, unwanted, and abandoned animals. Our other main objective is to spread the spay/neuter message in an effort to prevent overpopulation.

All of our income is derived from memberships, donations, adoption fees, and income from doing pound maintenance for the Town of Meadow Lake.

Memberships can be purchased - please email us for details.

Donate a Bed

Thanks to the generosity of our community and Kuranda/Petfinder, we now have enough Kuranda beds for all of the dogs in our shelter! These beds have definitely made a difference in the lives of shelter dogs. For more information on the benefits of Kuranda dog beds, please click here.
