Dakota Dachshund Rescue
Our Featured Pet...
"Gus" came from a breeder. He wieghed 13lbs when he came to rescue. He has now trimed down to 9lbs and looks great. He has started to come out of his shell and just truly appreciates anything you do for him. He's an older dog, but don't let that bother you. He is going to outlive all of us.
News
We have some new additions to the doxie clan so be sure to check them out.
We also are on myspace.com due to a great volunteer. Thanks Mat. Check us out. Our name is Dakota Doxie Rescue on myspace.com.
We also have several volunteers working on a new website. Our website is dakotadachshundrescue.org. We will let you know when the changes are done.
Who We Are
We are a very small group of volunteers who really love the little weiner dogs. We work together to rescue abandoned, abused, and unwanted dachshunds. We provide medical and behvioral care for them. We assist in placing them in loving home and work out transporation to get them to their new families.
...One day at a time.....One dog at a time....Friends Forever.
Like most rescues the cost of medical care far exceeds the adoption donations. If you would like to donate to Dakota Dachshund Rescue please use the donation button.
Adopting a friend
All our rescues dogs are current on shots and spayed or neutered.
1. Animals will only be placed with adults. You must be at least 18 years of age or older to adopt a dog from DDR. No dogs will be placed to serve merely as guard or hunting dogs.
2. Puppies will be at least four (4) months of age before being placed in homes where the children are under 10 years of age. Health and humane authorities agree that a young child usually cannot be expected to handle a puppy or kitten properly. Mishandling is likely to result in injury to the animal, child, or both.
3. No animal will be released for adoption as a gift to another person. The recipient may not want the animal or may not be suitable or compatible with the recipient’s lifestyle.
4. We require written and/or verbal permission from the landlord or agent before a dog is adopted out to a person living in rental housing.
We are not professional dog handlers, vets, or trainers, but we care for a lot of dachshunds and will do our best to help in any situation. If you can no longer keep your dog at any time in its life, we will take the dog back into our rescue group - in fact, we insist that you return the dog to us. Any dog that goes through this group will be protected for life. That's a commitment we make to each dachshund that comes through our doors.
You can email us for an application at:

Please be aware that all of the volunteers work full time regular jobs and volunteer their time at DDR. If you call and do not get an answer, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
