Our featured pet is Pepper. He is a wonderful dog who had a poor start in life, but now is very happy to have a great chance to be a good companion. He is a bit timid still and reacts to loud noises or quick movements, but he has come a long ways. He is a beautiful color and has such a sweet temperament. You really have to see him to appreciate him.News

Who We Are
Heartland Humane Society is a non-profit organization looking to eventually have an actual facitlity to house the countless number of animals that are dumped or just unwanted in the Yankton, Vermillion and Northeastern Nebraska area. We are dedicated to protecting and enhancing the lives of companion animals and promoting healthy relationships between pets and people.
Adopting a friend
If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, we have an adoption application which needs to be filled out prior to any adoption. Once approved, you will fill out our adoption contract as well.
