Our Pet List

Please come down and visit the shelter! We can use volunteer help, and you will find that it's very rewarding to help the homeless animals. Make good friends of the four-legged and two-legged variety. We look forward to meeting you soon! We are now accepting applications for foster familes. If you have room in your home to temporarily help a homeless animal please give us a call or stop by.

The Western Hills Humane Society is a non-profit organization that has been saving lives in Spearfish South Dakota for many years. We have made some wonderful changes to the shelter, our parking lot is now paved for easier access. Also come see our "outdoor cattery" the new set-up allows the cats to go in and out as they please.

All you need to do is fill out a simple adoption contract and pay a small adoption fee.
Dogs $75
Cats $35
Puppies $75
Kittens $25.
The adoption fees help feed the animals and allow us to vaccinate and provide the best care possible!!!Come make a lifelong friend today! All adult animals are spayed or neutered at shelter expense and all dogs are microchipped free of charge to adopting family.

We are always in need of volunteers. People who are good with animals to walk our dogs or play with the kittens. As well as your assistance we can also always use your old newspapers, bedding, and cleaning supplies. We appriciate the community support and the generous contributions we recieve. We couldn't do it without you! If you are interested in volunteering your time please come to a volunteer orientation happening once a month . See you there!
