We need towels and blankets desperately. Please donate your old items. Our animals enjoy a snuggly bed just as much as we do. We gladly accept donations of food (canned and dry)for dogs/puppies and cats/kittens, self feeders and waterers, cleaning supplies (bleach) and any volunteers that would like to help out at the shelter on Saturday and/or Sunday. We also can put cash money to good use. Thanks for adopting animals from any shelter and for any assistance you can provide!
REMEMBER: This is a HIGH KILL shelter, so help us get these pets a good home!! We operate out of the county shelter facility and when space gets tight, the Animal Control Officers make room. The GAS CHAMBER is used here to put down animals on a weekly basis (if not more often when needed). Animal control is responsible for killing and disposing of animals in this facility. href=http://www.sheltercare.com/us/index.asp?CUID=SC94>
Who We Are
Paws and Claws of Chesterfield County is a completely volunteer organization. We work to assist the Animal Control Officer in improving conditions and situations for the animals under his control. We work out of the county animal shelter on the weekends to adopt out, administer preventative disease shots, and provide assistance and care to the animals. Join us! You can help in more ways than you think.
This county shelter is a HIGH KILL SHELTER due to the shear amount of animals that come to this facility DUE TO NEGLECT, ABUSE and UNCONTROLLED BREEDING. We will work with any and all rescue groups available to us.
Adopting a friend
This is a FIRST COME/FIRST SERVE adoption facility. We cannot afford to HOLD animals for someone, and then they not show up, leaving the animal another week at the shelter. If you desire to adopt during the weekdays, call 843-378-0016 to make an appointment.
GENERAL adoption hours are Saturday and Sunday from 10am-2pm at the shelter. All animals adopted from the shelter are required by S.C. LAW to be SPAYED or NEUTERED. We offer a FREE SPAY for adult (FEMALE ONLY) dogs and cats adopted from us (through some of our local area vets). Any out of area adoptions, SPAY procedures will be discussed. Adoption fee is $20 per animal unless otherwise noted in the narrative concerning the specific animal. Most of the highly desireable type pets will have an increase in the adoption fee. Email us if you are not sure. We usually have additional photos of animals, so if you are interested in an animal, email us to ask for any additional photos to be sent to you.
We are located at 467 Goodale Rd./Edwards Rd in Chesterfield, SC.
