NEWS, ANNOUNCEMENTS and DEDICATIONS
Gary, Mary, and Hairy entered Gypsy's life over two years ago. This tiny little girl brought two VERY special people into our lives. Gary, Mary, Hairy and Gypsy traveled from Kentucky to South Carolina in August of 2004 to visit CAPCA and provide live entertainment as a benefit to our rescued kids. Full story (with pictures) coming soon on the Rescue page at http://www.4friendsflowerfarm.com/Cassee
ToTo will be deeply missed at our house!!! Thank you, Jean Mari, for loving this little boy, even though he isn't perfect!!! We know he will flourish in your home with all of his new brothers and sisters!!!
GOD BLESS YOU, DENA!!! Not only for loving Scooby for the rest of his life but for your generous donation!!! Currently, we have two heartworm positive 'kids' and your donation will help bring them back to health and give them the opportunity for a first rate life!! We all feel blessed to have met you and want to publicly thank you for all you do to help rescued animals!!!
THANK YOU, NATALIE, RICK, JULIE & PIERRE FOR GIVING THIS LITTLE POODLE, MUFFIN, THE 'NORMAL' LIFE SHE SO RICHLY DESERVES!! THE CHALLENGES WILL LESSEN AS THE DAYS GO BY :)))
Special thanks go to Jayne and Warren of Charlotte. They adopted a senior Yorkie from us in December 2001 and have remained loyal to our cause. We contacted them to see if they could rescue Suzy, Ginger, and a VERY special needs male Peke from the shelter, they didn’t hesitate to say yes! Not only have they saved these kids from the shelter, they have provided loving foster care for them and managed their veterinary care. On top of everything, they have committed to care for Ollie for the rest of his natural life !!
Thanks to all of our volunteers who opened their homes and hearts to make a difference for these precious bundles of joy! We couldn't do it without you!!! Let's keep up the good work - we have a whole new year ahead of us!!!
CAPCA appreciates the support of DOG UNIVERSITY in Aiken, SC. We also appreciate Shelby's new Mom and Aunt supporting our efforts to save the lives of animals!! Good luck at D.U. Shelby!!
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE !!!!!!!!!
WHO WE ARE
CAPCA was formed by a group of citizens who are dedicated to reducing the killing of animals due to indiscriminate breeding. We promote spay/neuter initiatives so that someday in the future, euthanasia will not be used as a means of population control for unwanted domesticated animals. We advocate the adoption and re-homing of adoptable animals. Our goals include 1)education of the benefits of altering companion animals, 2)creating an alliance with shelters in the Carolinas in order to rescue adoptable animals that may not be adoptable in a shelter environment, 3)providing safe haven for unwanted animals until a permanent home can be found. This includes providing all necessary medical care and altering every animal prior to adoption.
ADOPTING A FRIEND
It our desire to adopt our rescued friends to forever homes. We will ask you to complete an adoption application, provide personal and veterinarian references, and ask you to allow one of our volunteers to come to your home and visit with your family. After a commitment has been made to adopt an animal from CAPCA, we require a signed contract along with the adoption donation.
Generally, we are able to keep our veterinary costs between $125 and $175. The adoption donation for each animal is listed with it's biography. When you adopt a rescue pet from us, it will be spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative and on preventative, treated with flea/tick preventative, have a good health report (even if special needs apply), and groomed. It is our policy to give full disclosure about the health and temperament of each animal, however, many of our animals are rescued from shelters shortly before being euthanised, and we will never know the complete background.
There may be times when a family feels an animal is the best addition to their family but, for some reason, the foster home where the animal is residing feels there may be a better match. We reserve the right to make the final decision as to where our animals will live for the rest of their lives.
CAPCA is located in the mountains of Upstate South Carolina. We are about halfway between Atlanta and Charlotte. In most cases, our adopters come to pick up their new family member in Pickens, SC. We welcome visitors by pre-arranged appointment, however, please realize that we utilize foster homes and all animals may not be located at our physical location.
We are most accesible via email and will do our best to respond to your inquiry within 72 hours. We spend a lot of time visiting shelters and caring for our foster animals, as well as processing adoption applications, so it is difficult for us to take phone calls inquiring about our pets. Please email an application to gigifarm1@yahoo.com if you are interested in one of our 'kids'.
