Brin got her name because of her beautiful brindle coloring on her forehead. She is a german shorthaired pointer mix. Brin is a very calm dog and she doesn't mind being cuddled. She plays nicely with other dogs and she will lay down and play with toys all by herself. Brin has a very sweet personality and she walks well on a leash. Brin has been fostered and is used to being in a house. These pictures were taken on 10/23/09 and she weighed 50 pounds. She was born on 2/10/09 and she is full grown. Brin was spayed and microchipped on 7/16/09. She is up to date on her shots. Please contact us if you would like to meet Brin in person!

Remember: Getting a pet should never be an impulse decision. Potential pet parents should agree with these points before bringing a dog or cat home.
1) Animals are not disposable.
2) Protect your pet's health and safety.
3) Choose the right pet for your home.
4) Teach yourself, family and children about the pet before adopting.
5) Make sure the pet suits your lifestyle.

Have you fallen in love with one of our animals but you can't bring it home? Why not help it get adopted by volunteering to walk the animal regularly or just spend some time training him/her. An animal that is well-behaved stands a much better chance of being adopted. You'll be so happy when you find out the animal has a forever home and the unconditional love received makes it all worth it.
We are looking for your support to establish a no-kill animal shelter that offers spay/neuter services. We need a great deal of help to bring this dream to fruition. Your help, whether monetary, time or services, is greatly needed and appreciated.

Who We Are
The Humane Society of McCormick County is a private, non-profit, no-kill organization formed in September 2000. We are staffed 100% by volunteers and we raise every penny ourselves as we live in a very poor county where 54% of the population is poverty level or below. The county has no money for an animal control officer or shelter. We are all our county has for any help with animals. We approach this problem through our "No more litters....fix your critters" low to no cost spay/neuter program. Over 400 animals have been altered in the past year free of charge to those who qualified for it. We are dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, to providing shelter and care for lost and unwanted animals, to implementing educational programs and services, to promoting responsible pet ownership including population control (spaying and neutering are a must), and to placing animals in humane environments. The Humane Society of McCormick County is an advocate for animals - speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves. We are also in the process of building a refuge where animals may live out their natural life without threat to it but we need help with the development. If anyone living in the McCormick area would like to help with this venture, we would truly appreciate it!
