Remember: Getting a pet should never be an impulse decision. Potential pet parents should agree with these points before bringing a dog or cat home.
1) Animals are not disposable.
2) Protect your pet's health and safety.
3) Choose the right pet for your home.
4) Teach yourself, family and children about the pet before adopting.
5) Make sure the pet suits your lifestyle.

Have you fallen in love with one of our animals but you can't bring it home? Why not help it get adopted by volunteering to walk the animal regularly or just spend some time training him/her. An animal that is well-behaved stands a much better chance of being adopted. You'll be so happy when you find out the animal has a forever home and the unconditional love received makes it all worth it.

We are looking for your support to establish a no-kill animal shelter that offers spay/neuter services. We need a great deal of help to bring this dream to fruition. Your help, whether monetary, time or services, is greatly needed and appreciated.

Adopting a friend

The animals in our care urgently need a permanent home where someone can provide individual loving care and attention. Please consider adopting your family pet from the Humane Society of McCormick County. We would require that you sign an adoption agreement wherein you commit to take proper care of the pet. The adoption fee is $75 for dogs and $45 for cats. Every animal has been given all appropriate vaccinations. Every animal that is old enough has been spayed/neutered.

Contact us by phone or e-mail as noted below to arrange to visit any of our animals. Also, watch for our adoption days when we take some of our dogs to locations such as Wal-Mart in Greenwood, PetSmart in Aiken, and Bi-Lo in Abbeville.

Our animals come with an implanted 24PetWatch microchip and free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service.

Our animals also come with 30 days of pre-paid pet health insurance. For more information please visit www.sheltercare.com or call 1-866-375-PETS.
