Anderson County Animal Shelter

Please consider being a foster parent for an orphaned or injured puppy or kitten for Anderson County Animal Shelter, it is free, fun and life saving, not to mention how rewarding it feels to help the less fortunate of our critters! We are always in need of supplies for our orphan kittens and puppies, please ask today for their needs! And always remember to spay and neuter your un-altered pets, it is the only answer to un-wanted pet over-population!

Who We Are

We are commited to adopting as many healthy animals as possible. ACAS works closely with animal rescue programs and the Anderson County Humane Society. We are obligated to morally, ethically and legally enforce ordinances and to shelter animals in such a way as to ensure public safety and to show respect for the dignity and worth of all creatures.

Adopting a friend

Once you find the right pet for you, see the staff behind the adoption counter and they will be glad to help you. You just need to fill out some simple paperwork and you are on your way to bringing your new best friend home. All animals must be spayed or neutered before they leave the shelter. The staff in the adoption area will schedule that for you and let you know when you can take your new best friend home. Generally, surgeries are done on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You can take your new pet home that afternoon! ***If you come into the shelter looking for a dog you saw posted here and don't find him/her on the adoption floor, talk to the staff and tell them you saw a dog listed on Petfinder that you would like to see.***

Services We Offer

For a $10 donation you can have a microchip placed into your pet. This is available to both cats and dogs, cats however must be at least 6 months of age. Even if you did not adopt from the shelter, you can still enjoy the benefits from this service. Help ensure your pet returning home to you!!!
