Grace
Recently at one of SQ Rescue’s pet adoption days at the Two Notch Road PetSmart, a woman came and asked if we could take in a very thin dog she found in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Unfortunately, we had to turn her down because our small rescue group had over 80 dogs at that time and we had nowhere to put the dog. We asked her to foster the dog until we could find a home. She declined and went outside to call Richland County Animal Control. Fortunately, one of our volunteers heard that conversation so we took sweet Grace in. A lovely couple saw one of our volunteers walking Grace and stopped to ask about her. As luck would have it, they fell in love with her and agreed to foster her if Grace got on with their cat, which she did. When SQ Rescue took Grace to the vet, they found she was heartworm positive and had a torn ACL requiring surgery. Grace’s surgery and heartworm treatment will cost in excess of $2,500. SQ Rescue is run solely on donations and the founder, Mary Key Escue’s own money. We are asking for donations (no matter how small) to help Grace. You can donate through Paypal at the Chipin link below. Thank you for any help you can give.

Foster Homes Needed!
We are desperately in need of foster homes! With the holidays upon us, many of the kennels we normally use are booked. Also, many of our usual foster parents will go out of town. Without foster homes and loving people to care for these dogs, we have to turn away many pets that need help. We supply food and vet care, so you just need to supply a temporary, warm loving safe haven for our furry friends. If you can't foster a dog, maybe you can sponsor one, or make a one time donation. Please help us give our four-legged friends a wonderful holiday, too! Thanks!
Petsmart - Adoption Day!
Visit many of our dogs at Petsmart at 10136 Two Notch Road February 27th and March 6th and 13th from 12 noon until 4pm. You don't have to wait for pet adoption day to get your new baby. You can email or call us any time during the week to pick one up.
We are in desperate need of any new or used dog kennels, blankets, and quilts. We can give you a tax receipt for your donation. Email Randi at info@sqrescue.net. Thank you so much for your generosity.
Who We Are
SQ Rescue is located in Columbia SC. Mary and her husband, Bill Escue, decided to spend their retirement, and much of their income, rescuing dogs off highways, abandoned in the woods and from abusive homes. Whether starving, injured, or abandoned, Mary and Bill work tirelessly to find homes for these precious dogs.
SQ Rescue is a charitable organization that has been in operation since 1980 under the direction of Mary Key Escue. She works with each rescue, taking them to the vet and arranging foster homes. We do not put any animals to sleep. If surgery is needed, we follow through with our team of specialists here in Columbia to include an Ophthalmologist, Orthopedist, Dermatologist and Internist. This can put a great strain on a small rescue, but Mrs. Escue seems to always pull each needy animal through and find them a forever home.
Adopting a friend
The adoption fee for most dogs is $100 to $200. It includes spaying or neutering and veterinarian care (unless otherwise noted). These pets will be up to date on shots and are microchipped prior to adoption. If you are interested in a pet, please email info@sqrescue.net or phone (803) 788-1889.

Each of our puppies and dogs have been brought up to date on all
shots, are spayed or neutered, are heartworm negative, intestinal worm
negative and are deemed healthy and socialized. They come with a
complete set of veterinary records. A trial period is offered with
an approved application. We feel it is very important to do this
for you to determine if this pet will be congenial in your home
and with your pet situation. In our contract it is noted that if
at any time you can no longer care for the pet or other
circumstances arise, that the pet can and will be returned to us
for re-homing.
