Our Featured Pet

DIVA

Diva is a 11 week old darling female puppy. Her mother is a Cocker Spaniel and daddy was (we think) a Golden Retriever. She is smart, affectionate, and a darling addition for any family.

To Help

In order to help some of the many homeless canines in the midlands of South Carolina, we desperately need foster homes! Fostering not only helps the homeless dogs, but rewards their foster families as well. The feeling of satisfaction people get when their foster dog finds their forever family is tremendous. That is why many of our foster parents have been doing it for several years! We provide the dog's food and preventatives for heartworm, fleas and ticks, as well as any veterinary expenses. You provide the love and guidance these grateful creatures need and deserve. No dogs are placed in foster homes until they are completely checked by a veterinarian and evaluated by F.I.D.O. You will have the support of everyone at F.I.D.O. and a network of other foster parents with whom to exchange thoughts and ideas. Won't you consider joining us in saving one deserving dog at a time? Some of these rescued animals have come from abusive situations and really need someone to show them that their life doesn't have to be one of suffering and abuse.

Who We Are

"F. I. D. O." does not have a physical shelter. We are a small individual rescue located in the midlands of South Carolina. We have been in operation, rescuing and placing pets, since 1974. The dogs are either in-home fostered or are boarded in local kennels while waiting for placement. We prefer that our potential pets spend this time in a foster home, but there are never enough volunteers to handle the number of puppies, young and adult dogs who need a temporary place. (See To Help above.) All pets are spayed or neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on all shots, including kennel cough, fecal negative and on flea/tick prevention monthly, as well as heartworm prevention.

Come See Us

We are at a PetSmart on Sundays between the hours of 2 aqnd 6. See the schedule below. If you are interested in a particular dog and would like to visit with it on Sunday, please send an email to Charlotte and we will try to make arrangements to have the dog present.

2008 Schedule

First Sunday of every month, we go to Lexington Petsmart
All other Sundays, except the fifth Sundays, we go to to Harbison Petsmart
On fifth Sundays, we take a break!

Adoption Procedure

Our adoption procedure consists of first completing an application. After approval of the application, we require a home visit with the potential adopting family or person. When an adoption is made, it is considered to be a trial period for the family and new pet to get to know each other. Our adoption is $150 for most animals. If the pet is a puppy, the adoption fee includes the first two sets of shots and the cost for spaying/neutering. If the pet is an adult, it includes all shots being brought up to date and spaying or neutering. The pet's complete veternarian record is provided for each adoptor.

How to Adopt a friend

If you are interested in any of our friends, please send an email to Charlotte. She will send you an application form to fill out. For further information about F.I.D.O., please send an email to the address below.
