The Greater Abbeville Humane Society is actively seeking willing and qualified foster homes to provide loving care and support for potential adoptable pets until such time as they can be placed in loving, permanent homes. If you are interested in fostering animals or would like additional information, please contact us at your earliest convenience.

The Greater Abbeville Humane Society may be able to assist with spay or neuter costs for qualifying individuals. Contact us for more information about spay/neuter subsidies.

The Greater Abbeville Humane Society exists to serve the citizens of Abbeville County and to assist with matters related to responsible pet ownership. We actively encourage the practice of spaying and neutering your pets in an effort to help control the pet population and to reduce the number of animals that are housed at the city animal shelter. Some of the services that we provide include:

* Financial assistance with spay/neuter surgery for qualifying individuals and their pets
* Advice with pet behavior problems and issues
* Resources for the investigation and prevention of animal cruelty
* Educational information regarding the responsibilities of pet ownership

The Greater Abbeville Humane Society functions exclusively through public and private donations and charitable grants. All donations are tax deductible and are greatly appreciated. Monetary donations may be sent to:

Greater Abbeville Humane Society
PO Box 219
Abbeville, SC 29620

We are also in need of pet food donations and supplies related to animal care such as cat litter, food and water pans, litter pans, etc. Any donations are greatly appreciated and will help us to provide the necessary resources toward assisting the animals of Abbeville County. If you have supplies you would like to donate, please contact us for information on where to bring the items. Pick up of items may also be available in certain situations.

IMPORTANT: If you are a resident of Abbeville and you are missing your pet, please contact Animal Control to report your missing pet and to check if they have been impounded:
City residents may call Animal Control Officer Clay O’Bannon at 864-366-8451 or 864-391-7499
County residents may call the Sheriff’s Dept. at 864-446-6000 and ask for Officer Willie Reed.

IF YOU HAVE UNWANTED ANIMALS, PLEASE CALL ANIMAL CONTROL AT THE NUMBERS ABOVE. THE ABBEVILLE HUMANE SOCIETY IS NOT ACCEPTING ANY ADDITIONAL ANIMALS AT THIS TIME BECAUSE WE HAVE NO AVAILABLE FOSTER HOMES. IN ORDER FOR US TO ACCEPT ANIMALS AND HELP REDUCE THE CHANCE THOSE ANIMALS WILL END UP IN THE CITY POUND AND FACE EUTHANASIA, WE NEED FOSTER HOMES....THE ABBEVILLE HUMANE SOCIETY IS RECEIVING DAILY CALLS ABOUT HELPING PEOPLE FIND HOMES FOR LITTERS OF PUPPIES, KITTENS, DOGS & CATS. UNFORTUNATELY, OUR ONLY SUGGESTION TO THESE CALLERS AT THIS TIME IS TO CALL THE ANIMAL CONTROL IN ABBEVILLE AND HAVE ONE OF THE ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICERS COME AND PICK UP THE UNWANTED ANIMALS. CURRENTLY, WE ONLY HAVE A LIMITED NUMBER OF FOSTER HOMES AND THEY ARE FULL WITH THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF FOSTER ANIMALS THEY CAN HOUSE AT ONE TIME. PLEASE PASS ALONG THIS INFORMATION TO ANYONE YOU FEEL MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN FOSTERING. WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP! YOU MAY EMAIL US ANY NAMES OF THOSE WITH A FOSTERING INTEREST @ abbevillehumanesociety@gmail.com
