Thank you for your interest in our amazing dogs! Our founder, Jennifer Clark, is away for the summer. In order to allow our volunteers to answer your emails as quickly as possible, please copy these questions into an email for us.
-Do you have any pets currently? Are they spayed/neutered? Up-to-date on vaccines? On heartworm prevention?
-Have you had any pets in the past? What happened to them?
-Are you familiar with heartworm prevention?
-Do you have any children?
-Would your adopted dog be an inside dog?
-What is your living situation? (i.e. Apartment, house, roommates, etc.
-How will your adopted dog get exercise? Do you have a fenced yard
-How many hours will the dog be alone each day? Where will (s)he be during that time?
-For what reasons would you consider returning the dog to the rescue?
Other ways to help are to send your veterinarian's info in the email, as well as pictures of your home (to count as a "virtual" home visit).
FAQ
-What is your adoption fee? $150. See below for more info.
-Will you seperate Tango and Cash? No.
-Do you adopt out-of-state? Absolutely. However, adopters are responsible for the $100 fee to send the dog on a transport in addition to the adoption fee. If you wish to come pick the dog up, that's okay too!
-How far will you adopt? We will drive up to 3 hours in each direction. Otherwise, you need to come to us and do our "virtual" home visit.
Who We Are
We are a small group of animal lovers who have banded together to rescue dogs in danger of being euthanized from shelters. The dogs are then placed in foster homes where they are given lots of love and taught the basics of housetraining, leashtraining, and good manners. The dogs remain in their foster homes until a permanent home is found for them. We have many great dogs waiting for their forever homes, please check them out! We pay for all rescue costs from our own pockets and donations are GREATLY appreciated! We can use things like collars, leashes, crates, toys, blankets, and cleaning supplies. Please click below to donate or call us to pick up donated items!
Foster Homes Needed!
Fostering is a wonderful way to help dogs that have no other way to make it out of the shelter. The bottom line for the rescue is: the more foster homes, the more dogs we can save. As a foster home, you would take in a dog and treat it like any of your normal family dogs. Your foster would need to be exposed to everything your dogs are normally exposed to. The rescue would provide for all medical needs, and all dogs would be fully vaccinated and spayed/neutered before coming to you. We would bring a collar and leash, Heartguard, Frontline, and a bag of food.
You would be responsible for anything the dog needs to live a normal life at your home (toys, crate, etc.) Of course, the rescue is glad to help with anything that you need help with, if anything is cost-prohibitive. Once you've spent some time with the dog, you would let us know his or her personality, likes, dislikes, training, etc. Then we would post the dog on the website and on petfinder and handle all adoption paperwork. If an application goes to a home visit, we would make arrangements to pick the dog up (although you're welcome to come along, foster parents normally like to) and if all goes well, your foster has a new home! If you have any questions, please feel free to email at Jennifer@lucky-dog-rescue.org or call 864-804-0990.
Adopting a Rescue Dog
All dogs in the rescue are:
-Spayed/Neutered
-Up-to-date on Vaccinations
-Microchipped
-Heartworm Negative
-Given Heartguard and Frontline
Our adoption fee is $150 and covers the cost of this care as well as provides you with a collar, leash, and a small bag of food for your new best friend. If you find our adoption fee prohibitive, please email us, we will work with you! Our goal is to save as many as we can! We do NOT require a fenced yard. Our views are that dogs are members of the family. You would not make a family member sleep outside, in a pen, or in a garage so we require all of our dogs to live inside with their families. This is stated in our contract and we make NO exceptions.
The adoption process is very simple, first shoot us an email, we’ll ask you a few questions and check your vet reference, schedule a home visit, go over the adoption contract, and then your new best friend comes home! If you have any questions, please email adoptions@lucky-dog-rescue.org or call us at 864-804-0990. We pride ourselves on being very accessible, and you will normally hear from us within a few hours.
