Who We Are
Lancaster County Animal Control has a limited holding area. 24 dog runs with normally 2 in holding for one reason or another. Normally 5 - 8 cat runs available. There is a 5 day hold for owner reclaim, then pets are available for adoption or euthanasia. Owner surrenders are legally first allowed to be euthanized if the shelter is filling up.
Unfortunately the shelter can only house a limited amount and when filling up they must be euthanized because of lack of space, must have room for the constant intake average of 30 a day, help by saving just one and we will all see a difference!
Please spay/neuter your pets to reduce the unwanted homeless pets.
Any reputable 501(c)3 rescues may fax their 501(c)3 paperwork to the shelter for free pulls.

Adoption is easy! Fee is $50 up front, after required spay/neuter is done & proof submitted the county will reimburse $40 back to you! Cash required, check allowed if local.
