GOOD NEWS! Rescue tails is FINALLY official. Starting January 2004, Rescue Tails is a brand new organization joining in the fight to help save homeless animals all over the lowcountry. Eventually, as our organization grows, our home will get smaller. If you are an experienced dog or cat owner with a little space and time to share, you could save a life that may not otherwise have a chance. Foster homes need to be able to provide LOVE, food and shelter, and some basic training and social skills. Rescue Tails will pay for all medical costs of the animals and will handle all inquires and screenings of adopters. A cat generally needs a minimum of 2 weeks in foster under most circumstances but a dog may need 2 months of care. Keep in mind that generally speeking a foster could potentially spend more time than the average.
If you are interested please contact Danielle @ 843-301-4622.
Other ways to help:
If you do not have the space or time required to foster animals, we are always in need of people happy to donate their time with transports to the vet or future home, adopting and pickup out of shelters in our area, fundraising, advertising, ect.
Also, If you would like to make a donation to our cause, all contributions may be sent by check to RESCUE TAILS, P.O. Box 23292, Hilton Head Island SC 29925-3292. All donations will be used solely and exclusively for the benefit of our furbabies.
Who We Are
Carolina Rescue Tails is a non-profit organization based in the lowcountry of South Carolina. We rescue and take in animals from the Carolinas and Georgia to provide them with medical care and daily needs such as food, water, exercise, and most importantly LOVE. All of our animal are placed in private foster homes until they are ready to be placed up for adoption. We are a no-kill animal rescue and many of our animals come from shelters that have euthanasia practices. Because of our love for animals and the protection of each one that visits our shelter, we do home checks and follow-ups on all our adoptions. We also have a 100% "return policy" on all of our animals.
Adopting a friend
If you are intrested in providing a permanent and loving home for any of our animals, please send all inquiries and requests for additional adoption information to rescuetails@adelphia.net A homecheck, and references are required for all our adoptions. Adoption contracts and paperwork are also required to be filled out and signed. There is also an adoption fee to partially offset our expenses required to provide care to the animal.
What does this fee cover?
*Fees we paid to rescue the animal out of the shelter (if not found or brought to us.)
*Cost of veterinary expenses: spaying/neutering, shots, medication, flea tick and heartworm treatment / prevention. (Many of the animals we rescue even out of the shelters, come to us sick and need medical care.)
*Daily expenditures to care for the animal.
*Various costs of treatment if the animal is sick.
Adoption fees:
$125 - Cats and Dogs
$175 - Kittens and Puppies
$50-$100 - Small animals and Birds
Please keep in mind that when we foster a animal, we provide the animal with medical care, food, shelter, and all other necessities. Most of the animals come to us unvaccinated and unaltered. Most of these services we provide to the animal are out of pocket cost since we are currently a small organization. Adoption fees offset most of these costs but in the case of a sick or injured animal, we will pay much more out of love so that each "victim" of abandonment, neglect, or just plainly over population, will have their chance to find their forever home.
