It's that time again - with warm weather right around the corner - so is KITTEN SEASON. If you are interested in fostering mother cats and kittens, kittens that need to be bottle fed, or kittens that aren't old enough to go up for adoptions yet please call or come by the shelter. There is an application you need to fill out and you can speak with our staff.

We need Foster Parents! Foster homes provide temporary care for kittens or puppies that are not old enough for adoption. As well, adult dogs or cats are sometimes placed in foster care to recover from an illness or to overcome shyness. In all cases, foster parents provide love and shelter so that the animals in their care can go on to become beloved pets in an adoptive home. Please call the shelter if you have space, time and love to give to the homeless pets in our care.

Who We Are

Established in 1935, the Aiken SPCA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that currently operates an animal shelter located at 401 Wire Road. We provide shelter and care for stray, rejected and abused cats and dogs until they are placed in permanent, loving homes. We offer on-site no-cost and low-cost spay and neuter programs, education programs, and pet therapy programs. The shelter is open to the public at these times: Monday-Saturday: 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Off-Site Adoptions

We have puppies and dogs available for adoption at Petsmart on Whiskey Road in Aiken (near Target) Saturday from 11am to 4:00 pm. Meet your next best friend at Petsmart this weekend.

Adopting a friend

If you are interested in adopting a cat or dog listed on Petfinder please call or visit the shelter to talk to our adoption counselor. The Aiken SPCA adoption fee is $95 for puppies and $75 for adult dogs, cats, and kittens, and includes age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, spay/neuter, rabies when spayed/neutered and microchip implant. The fee also includes heartworm testing for adult dogs and feline leukemia testing for kittens and cats.

Spaying/Neutering your pet

To set up a time to spay/neuter your pet, please call the shelter at 648-6863 to ask about our prices and assistace programs. Surgeries are scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Pre-Surgical instructions will be given to you when you register and Post-Surgical instructions will be given to you when you pick your pet up.

The Aiken SPCA offers several Spay/Neuter Programs. We are sure that we have something that will work for you.

Programs include: Regular Cost, Low Cost (you have to make less than $27,500 last year), No More Homeless Pets, and The City Spay Neuter Program. The County Shelter next door offers a County Spay Neuter Voucher - if you live in Aiken County contact them at 803-642-1537 for more information on that program.
