Cumberland Animal Shelter was built in 1989 in an area of
Town which borders the blackstone river and the inter city bike path. Our main focus is humane education for all variety of pets. We are proud to be the only municipal shelter equipped with its own classroom, where we conduct shelter tours as well as presenting in house programs. We also visit local schools and civic organizations. Our programs are geared for all age groups from kindergarten to forever. We present between thirty and fifty programs per year. We are proud to offer rescue services for ferrets, rabbits, reptiles, birds and all variety of pets, as well as our beloved cats and dogs. We have been involved in wildlife rehabilitation since our inception and our Director has been a wildlife rehabber for over twenty five years.
Adopting a friend
We are open to the public Monday through Thursday from 10:00 Am to 1:30 Pm and from 6:00 Pm to 7:30 Pm , Friday from 10:00 Am to 1:30 Pm and Saturday From 10:00 Am to 1:30 Pm. Visitors are always welcome as well as questions about your pet whether common or exotic. We are child friendly!!
