The Potter League has opened a new, state of the art facility featuring a visitor friendly adoption wing with home-like animal housing, a humane education center and an obedience training center.

Who We Are

The Potter League for Animals is the Humane Society and Animal Shelter for Newport County. We are a private non-profit and hold the contracts to house animals for three local animal control departments. 1900 dogs, cats and small animals are cared for each year. Community Outreach Programs include Obedience Training Classes, Humane Education Presentations, Pet Loss Support, Potter Pet University, PetSafe, Pet Visitation Program, and Behavior HotLine. Cremation services are available.

The Potter League has a large selection of dogs, cats and small animals for adoption.

Volunteering and Donations

The Potter League has an extensive volunteer program with many exciting opportunities for families and adults.

From the North - Take 195 East to 24 South to Route 114 South. Go approximately 5 miles to Oliphant Lane which a left turn across from Benny's in the Stop & Shop Plaza From the South - Cross Newport Bridge and take exit for Route 114. Take left at exit ramp light. Go to second light and take a left on Route 114 North which is West Main Road.
