The shelter has an abundance of crates... You can rent a crate from the shelter to crate train your dog for a $30.00 donation for 3 months..We have small to large sizes.. All the money donated for the crates will go to help other animals in the shelter.

The shelter is in dire need of Pedigreee Dry dog food small crunch bites, Iams dry Cat food,and Iams dry kitten food ,canned kitten food and canned cat food ground only no sliced food. Gift cards to Pet Supplies Plus or BJ's so that we can buy the food. ,

Need your pet spayed or neutered at an affordable price. For Cats call Salmon River Mobile Vet at 793-0092 price is $75.00. For Dogs call Providence Animal Rescue League prices vary , as of June 2009 the Rescue League recieved a grant and your can get your Pit bull /bully breed spayed or neutered for free..Call for more details 421-1399

The Cranston Animal Shelter 920 Phenix Ave Cranston, RI 02921 We are open to the Public Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 11:30 to 3:30 pm Saturdays 11:00 to 3:00.

Directions: Rte. 95 to exit 14 take 37 west to the end bear right shelter is a 1/4 mile on right..from Rte. 295 take Phenix Ave. exit to the end then bear right. We are a 1/4 mile on the right.

Adopting a Friend

Adoption Fee for cats $90.00 includes spay/ neuter rabies and distemper vaccination.

Adoption process...You must fill out an applicaton at the animal shelter,or you may email kittycop@aol.com to request an application which you can either mail back to the Cranston Animal Shelter or bring with you in person or email back to us.

You will need to bring your drivers license,and proof that your able to have a pet,if you rent you will need a copy of your lease agreement, or a notorized letter from your landlord .If you own your own home a mortgage statement, or a city tax bill.

Out of state adoptions are accepted.

There is a minimum $15.00 donation fee with this you recieve a free vet exam and reduced rate on the spaying or neutering of your new pet. You are also required by law to leave a $40.00 deposit this will be refunded to you once you have your animal spayed or neutered by the date specified on your sterilization contract. Animals six months and older will have 30 days to get altered. Animals under six months will have the alloted time until they reach six months old, to get spayed or neutered.

The shelter is currently working with area veternarians to spay and neuter as many animals as possible before they leave the animal shelter to help with the current pet over-population problem. In this case we only ask that you reimburse the shelter for the reduced rate spay or neuter price to cover our expenses. You will still recieve your free vet examination.The cost for Cat's to be altered is $75.00,which includes rabies ,distemper and the spay/neuter.. The cost for Dog's to be altered runs between $150.00 and $225.00 depending on the size and sex of the dog and includes vaccinations heartworm testing and the spay/neuter.

All Dogs are altered before leaving the Cranston Animal Shelter NO exceptions.We reserve the right to alter any animal prior to adoption.

If your newly ""ADOPTED PET ""does not work out you can return the pet to the Cranston Animal Shelter for a full refund of your $40.00 deposit or fees associated with spay/neuter reimbursements or cost of vaccines and tests within 30 days of the adoption. Your $15.00 donation is NOT refundable.

The shelter does not show animals out of their cages 1/2 hour prior to closing.
